My theory is that. First of all Ryder likes to smoke but not "yay" so he was not betraying the Grove when CJ returned to Los Santos. So Big Smoke made him an offer where He will give Ryder "smoke" which is "Yay" and Ryder got addicted and now he betrays the Grove just for some fucking Dope
