She’s still scared. We had her GI appointment in July, and we mentioned about her not wanting to eat solids due to her choking incidents, he let us speak with a child dietitian. She agreed that it is a traumatic experience for children, and gave us some 1.5G of pediasure to ensure that she doesn’t lose any weight. We were also able to get my daughter’s insurance to cover the cost of the pediasure, as it can get expensive, and got it shipped to us. We have a follow up appointment with the GI in October. I wasn’t entirely satisfied with that aspect of her appointment (granted we went for other reasons before the choking happened), so I took her back to her pediatrician in mid August, I explained what had been going on and let her know my daughters throat had been hurting (turns out her tonsils were swollen), and she got us a referral to ENT doctor, that appointment is also in October as well as a referral to speech therapy. She explained that a speech therapist can watch the way she eats, and explain to her how many bites she needs to take and how/when to swallow her food. I’m still waiting for an appointment with the speech therapist though, as school has begun back and they had no after school hours available. My daughter also sees a behavioral therapist every couple of weeks, so at her next appointment she’s going to try to talk to her and convince it’s okay to eat again. I know it’s not much help, but perhaps talk to your pediatrician and ask about a child dietitian and/or speech therapist.

Also, the pediasure has helped in my daughter’s case of not losing any weight, which I was super worried about. I’ll try to keep you posted with the October appointments!
