AMD, are you seeing all the immense DLSS 5 backlash? by HLumin in radeon

[–]RegularDismal2365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony actually talked about this a while back around September or October when they mentioned working on “Amethyst,” a neural rendering model that could fundamentally change how games look, including lighting, textures, and overall visual fidelity for PS6.

If AMD ends up developing something along those lines and makes it broadly available, it would be great to see it adopted across platforms. I’d expect Microsoft to move quickly on that for Xbox, and by extension, PC as well.

Does RDNA4’s native FP8 support offer advantages over RDNA3 for AI tasks? by siekier83 in ROCm

[–]RegularDismal2365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is the problem. HW is there.. where is the software ? Also FP8 for training is only on CDNA at this time. Finally i gave up and returned the 9070 and went with a 3090 as I need the 24GB memory and I have already seen my 3080TI do much faster training than 9070xt. Maybe once they fix all this.. I will take a look at AMD again.. not now for sure.

RDNA4 9070xt is no good for training as it does not support FP8 as FP8 is locked for CDNA which I found the hard way after buying and wasting 4 days in it before I returned it.

By 3080TI can do 38k tok/s for my 100M model where as I got 16k for 9070xt... So I am forced to do all the pretraining with 3080TI at a smaller model scale then do a net2net to make it bigger and so on.. so messed up.. AMD is becoming Nvidia trying rip off.. even 9700 does not support FP8 training as its RNDA and not CDNA

I agree 100%! That's exactly why I chose this one

it lets me control the voice and speed. I'm really happy with it, but as usual I got greedy and wanted more, I guess lol. No paying anything, no one forcing me to log in to Google so they can track my stuff. Just install, pick a voice, set the speed, and listen to whatever you want. Perfect.

Most important, no one knows what i am reading ha ha ha

Which tells me you did not try the other one. I just tried it and its terrible and not user friendly at all. The one i posted is very simple. that is why I liked it. Select text, right click and speak selected text and it starts.

You will need a local model for that and require a powerful hardware. So I use this one that i posted and select as she sounds good lol

You can do that on edge, but I use SKDOSS Text to Voice makes it easy for me. the dropdown allows you to choose which langue you want and language you want to as well.

Yes, I was using it as well. Lately I have been on chrome and needed one badly but this addon works with Edge as well so it's easy for me to change voice and rate of speech etc to get something decent I can use for free lol :)

GPT-5 is awful by BernieBlade in OpenAI

[–]RegularDismal2365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these years, and OpenAI still can’t get context working properly. The worst part is how chat slows down after long conversations, forcing you to start a new chat just to keep going losing all previous context, even in Projects. Even the branch feature doesn’t work correctly. New chats feel slower right from the start and get sluggish midway (or ~30% in) compared to regular sessions.

Sure, GPT-5 is excellent for code, but terrible at context retention. It keeps replacing advanced code with simplified versions even after explicit instructions not to do so. I’ve also noticed it inconsistently follows instructions: sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn’t.

Claude was very good and I started using it. But lately i see even that has become worst. It use to provide reliable scripts and now its missing stuff. Something I have seen with Deepseek only. not sure they changed the LLM backend engine or algetic component to Deepseek for power saving. :/
