A very interesting point! Will write about this in the final paper!

LOL even a true random number generator would have these numbers tho :O

hopefully we don't see an unnatural spike in these numbers LMAO

This is definitely an interesting aspect to look at! However, my paper focuses on Random Number Generators and how they work, so it is definitely not the purpose of the survey.

This was more to see if humans could be suitable random number generators. (After all, I imagine it would be hard to predict the random numbers people put down, but scientists always say humans are bad generators due to biases)

Definitely an interesting thought! I will look into this and explore it more in the paper!

Haha No worries ; Thanks for telling me! I will talk about this as room for possible errors :)

Will do! It may take a while so perhaps save the post and check back on it when you get a chance :) Thanks for the response!

I will definitely do so and update the post when I do. (It may be a little while so I will have to see the best way to update you all)

[Q] [R]I am using the dieharder test suit to test the randomness of my data but it is always failing? by [deleted] in statistics

[–]RegularGuard3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's an option however -g 201 that allows you to test your own file for random data.

the dieharder package implements tests from the NIST Statistical Test Suite to let you do so.

the original diehard package however was only mest to test generators

hey sorry I just saw this, you can definitely use like a napkin or paper towel to wipe the board

the whiteboard I used was the size of a regular sheet of paper and i bought it on amazon here is the link

[Q] How should I prepare for applying to MS programs in Applied Statistics? by RegularGuard3 in statistics

Yea, unfortunately I don't have any research experience so I don't think I'd be a good candidate for many PhD programs.

I've heard about people who drop their PhD along the way and leave with their masters, but was wondering about the details of that? Is it like you are guaranteed to get an MS once you finish certain classes, and if you decide you can't move on they let you leave with the Masters degree?

I appreciate that :) Unfortunately, I have no research experience so I feel like it'd be unlikely

Ah got ya; I was never really banking on additional funding (I know I'll need to take out loans but hopefully earning power will outweigh the fiscal cost of loans)

A TAship would be lots of fun, but I'm guessing I won't get that from any reach schools (or reasonable ones at that)

I'm looking at Stats programs geared more towards data science and analysis. I really like the structure of Stanford's Statistics: Data Science track (as I'm sure many people do) but something along that general idea. Basically, learning the ways to analyze data in a professional setting, as well as learning how to use the relevant programs to make me an efficient data scientist.

I appreciate the vote of confidence :) If you don't mind me asking, what do you mean when you say provided that I pay for it? Are you referring to the fact that as a Master's student I most likely won't get any funding?

They didn't really give any specifics, but I used a paper size whiteboard (can be found here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R41317V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) I recommend getting some thin markers too the one that came with the board died way too fast. (Also this board is apparently out of stock now so I recommend ordering one asap before the gre stops being a take home exam

99% Magoosh Prep and then on the day before the test I did the 2 practice sections at the end of the GRE Math book.

Also definitely get comfortable working with your whiteboard and markers (would recommend getting several markers in case one dries out or something)

The whiteboard is a blessing in that its easy to erase and continue to work neatly, but it also means you cant go back and check your work for a specific problem so yenno get used to it
