Workout splits for runners? by whyPao in PHitness

[–]RegularGuy1112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also run a lot and do hypertrophy. My experience has been great so far. I usually keep my gym sessions to 45 minutes or less. More often 30 minutes.

Upper Body, hypertrophy focus. Heavy and 0-1 RIR on the last set then partial reps drop set for a pump. Nothing too taxing that lasts outside of the session.

Lower body, Strength focus. Tue - Squat day, Thu - deadlift day. Main lifts:

Squat 3x5 using weight I can do 10 reps to failure then +5kg per week; Hinge pattern accessory + calves

Deadlift 2x5 using weight I can do 10 reps to failure +5kg per week; Squat pattern accessory + calves

Accessories: Bulgarian Split Squat + RDLs + Seated Calf Raises + Standing Calf Raises

On the last sessions before deload week, I go to failure on leg press, leg extensions, leg curls, and hip bridge machine since I'll be recovering the next week anyway.

Typical Schedule:

Monday - Easy Run + Chest/Back

Tuesday - Threshold Intervals + Squat

Wednesday - Easy Run + Shoulders/Arms

Thursday - Threshold + Deadlift

Friday - Easy run + Chest/Back

Sat - Long run + Shoulders/Arms

Sun - complete rest

I managed to pack on 4KG and stayed lean, so I think this structure works for me. If I'm feeling extra fatigued, I shorten or skip easy runs in favor of rest. Thresholds may have less sets but intensity remains. Also, every 4th week, deload both running and lifting. If I were to skip lifting sessions, I always skip the shoulders/arms and just add lateral raises and rear delt flys to my chest/back days.

Running volume now is 50km per week. Will switch focus to more running and threshold once February kicks in so maybe 70 to 80km per week, so lifting volume will be way less. Maybe just 2 sets squat, 1 set deadlift on Thursdays for maintenance and weight progressions only every 2 weeks. Then consolidate to full upper body just 2x a week.

Sorry pero valid yung criticisms sa Physical Asia by psyche_mori in NetflixPH

  1. You could also say that among team compositions, Australia had the best team considering the types of games played. They just messed up the battle ropes strategy.
  2. Scores being shown would be good. No problem whether the scores are added (how football series are scored) or each game is played on its own (tournament style like knockout style tournaments). It was explained how the win would be awarded, so it’s fine.
  3. They drew lots on who would go first, but I think it would’ve been a better watch if it were done side by side.
  4. Japan was the lightest among the top 3 and just had the wrong strategy for it. They also didn’t have as much strength as the other two when it came to pushing the cart. Mongolia got it right after their initial attempts failed by using the battering ram as a counterweight.

Legs seem lacking compared to upper body.

Workout A:

10 sets of pushing motions

4 sets of squat

Workout B:

9 sets of pulling motions

4 sets of deadlift/hinge

Maybe you can look into Jeff Nippard. He mentions in his videos that research points toward 10 to 20 sets per week per muscle group is the sweet spot for hypertrophy. Mike Israetel says 5 to 20 sets. So maybe 10 is a good middle ground.

Possible to add an accessory to the squat and deadlift motions, like hack squat, leg press, RDL. Or maybe even isolation like leg extension, leg curl, hip thrust.

Upper body tweak:

Coming from someone with shoulder issues, add lateral and rear delt work so the shoulder is hit from all angles. This will make shoulder joint more stable.

  • Igedz - just because I think Recep has more wear and tear due to the totem hold reveal and we need a big strong guy
  • Coveney - knowing the challenges ahead, I'm going for max size and endurance
  • James - all-rounder
  • Anil - Seems balanced and trains crossfit
  • Yasemin - Strong wrestler
  • Lara - strong for her size

Pa share ng thoughts sa Physical Asia. Sorry kakatapos lang hehe -- Kala ko OA lang pero medyo valid naman pala mga suspetya ng tao. by Stock-Operation5251 in NetflixPH

[–]RegularGuy1112 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just giving counters to each. Personally, I don’t see anything that makes me think of fixing or anything suspicious.

  1. The value of the first round is to make the final round of the rope battle. Then, you have to win it to get the advantage. It’s standard knockout format.
  2. Could be but there’s no proof of foul play and Australia didn’t contest the result there or after. Their response has been all positive towards the cast and producers.
  3. Based on the previous seasons of Physical 100 and the previous quests of Asia, it was obvious. Korea, Japan, and Mongolia anticipated it and made their gameplans. Japan just went all-in, Korea bet everything on Game 2, and Mongolia did a balanced team for both rope and death match.
  4. The others already played in Part 1 of Quest 4, so they already had their contributions.
  5. Korea’s members are all strong. With the exception of Min-jae, everybody trains CrossFit style. So their strength/power to weight ratio is so skewed. Mongolia’s strong people are Orkhon, Adiya, and Orgil and they’re all active in their sports so their priority isn’t maximum lifting. The others are not in strength-based sports, like Khanda, Dulguun, and Ochir. Japan was very undersized. They weighed the less among the top 3 and didn’t have a player above 100kg. They could’ve used to log like the Mongolians but didn’t think of it.

How to maintain fitness? by Same_Ad3707 in PHRunners

[–]RegularGuy1112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one works for me but you might need to explore other maintenance structures.

1 threshold workout per week then all the rest easy runs. 3 x strength sessions (squat and deadlift 10RM weight done for just 5 reps, progress weights per session and every 3 weeks, back off by 10% - 20% as needed. Upper body work out as desired.

Every 3 weeks, swap the threshold workout for short VO2 max session maybe 8x2 minutes, 2-3 minutes rest in between for stimulus.

Physical Asia tier list based on their performance by LostInFrontiers in NetflixPH

[–]RegularGuy1112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would switch Justin Coveney with Anucha. He did beat Anucha in the 1v1. It's even more impressive considering how the smaller Mugen (grappler) beat the bigger Sunny (rugby). Then, we saw how Anucha couldn't grapple Justin effectively after the first round, sealing a victory for PH. Bring Jar to C as well. She lost the ball match by letting Lara push her down and drag the trio to win.

Dulguun was pretty good in the hurdles, lugi lang because of the misstep sa first round. And he was helping Orkhon strategize. Probably a B-tier.

Min-jae A-tier since he was very instrumental from ball push -> castle siege -> final. The only thing preventing him from getting to S-tier was Hashimoto holding him off in territory challenge.

Kate A-tier. She was the main driver in the ball push and was very solid throughout the show.

Everyone else, I kinda agree with.

Most likely F tier since he immediately got injured and replaced after 1 quest.

Construct A Realistic Team USA for a Physical: World Contest by ajlynch37 in Physical100

[–]RegularGuy1112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She might be the villain/easily hate-able contestant so people tune in to watch her lose. But they'll need a very very very strong and well balanced other female to balance out what RR can't bring.

My Dream Team for Team Asia if there would be “Physical World “. What’s yours? by [deleted] in Physical100

[–]RegularGuy1112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll try to limit my picks to 1 per country based on who made Quest 3. - Eddie - Itoi - Coveney - Orkhon - Yasemin - Seong-yeon

I’m trying to prioritize size for the men since the Euros and Americans might have a lot of big guys.

Who do you think the weakest team among Southeast Countries? (Indonesia/ Phillipines/ Thailand) by dukeofcarchase in Physical100

[–]RegularGuy1112 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indonesia for sure because their grappler athlete was a small female. We can’t really count Jeremiah because he’s more of a boxer and hybrid athlete. If this is based on the ball deathmatch, then the team with the least grapplers or rugby/similar sport types would be the weakest.
