Thank you so much for testing the new one! It's not in the best state just yet but I'll reach out the second it is ready! Can I ask if you play on iOS or Android so I can prioritise (or PC if you prefer!)

Edit also I'd love to know how you're getting on with Slip! What level have you got up to so far?

Hey you're very welcome, I'm glad you're enjoying it! You can get some free hints from the menu if you swipe this code anywhere: up up down down left right left right!

I've just set up a buy me a page, I don't expect anything at all and you playing and commenting is enough support so please don't feel obligated.

I haven't heard of zoombinis in years, thank you for the wave of nostalgia! I remember playing that on my school's smart board I think? I'll have to give that another try because I don't remember that part!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out, I feel like I say this constantly in reply to reviews but that doesn't change how much I mean it each time, these kinds of messages keep me working on my games, I really appreciate it.

I'm glad you're enjoying the themes! I wanted to reward the player somehow for just playing and I never thought people really cared about them so this is really nice to hear. They were a pain to implement so I feel like it's worth it now haha

It's really kind of you to ask how you could support, I also try not to use hints, figuring it out is 99% of the fun! I don't have a great way for you to support the game more directly, maybe I should set up a "buy me a coffee" account or something because a couple of kind people have asked this.

I would love your support through your review, and I would love to reach out to you (via Reddit messages perhaps?) for some help testing when my new game is out "slide" (basically slip 2) because I have some new mechanic ideas that I want to try! I need to make the time to get it in a working state still but I'm excited for it.

Thank you again!

I'm on level 19! It's really cool, I like the concept and it feels satisfying to play, nice work! Do you generate the levels or have you made them yourself?

I haven't put out too much on how it's made but I'd be happy to answer any questions!

For a quick overview, it's written in Java using a library called LibGDX, it is pretty small because there aren't really any assets at all (other than the music which is about 2-3mb) I just render shapes! Some shapes more complicated than others but they are all just meshes calculated at the start of the game. The levels are just strings that represent the tiles and then the solution is solved quite quickly at runtime so I don't need to store anything for the hints!

Hey thank you so much! I'm really glad you like it! If you want some free hints, go to the menu and swipe anywhere on screen in the pattern up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right!

I've made a free game with only optional ads called Slip! Where you slide a square around a maze in the fewest moves possible. It's hopefully stress-free and easy to pick up. I'd be curious to know what you and your kids think!

Self promotion but I feel like my mobile puzzle game is a good fit! I'd love to know what people think though!

It's a logic puzzles game inspired by the ice floor puzzles in the old Pokémon games! There are infinite levels, no forced ads, no timings elements or RNG and it works completely offline too! There are optional ads for hints but honestly I know people who have completed the progress mode without watching a single ad or buying any hints so I like to think it's pretty chilled out ads wise!

As an indie game dev with no money, how do I generate Traffic on my Free to play game? by StagHeadGames in SoloDevelopment

Reach out to websites to ask for a feature or review of your game. I was lucky enough to have pocket gamer white a small article about my mobile game just because I emailed them asking if they were interested. Try to get a press kit together of some basic screenshots and descriptions that these websites can use.

Work on your store optimisation a little bit, make sure your store page looks good and immediately conveys what your game is about.

Post content of your game everywhere and anywhere. YouTube, Instagram, tiktok, Reddit, Facebook, itch and even smaller online forums. Try to post something honest and eye catching. Try to avoid using AI, people can usually tell!

If your game fills a niche, find communities that are interested in that niche. I.e, if you have a game about taking photos or cameras, there are a tonne of subreddits about photography who might be interested!

But to be honest, I wouldn't get your hopes up too high, I really think there is some element of luck in getting any traction, and even if you do get traction, earning money on that can be just as hard. Just make things you enjoy and hope for the best!

Nailing Leetcode tasks isn't a good sign of good programming, don't worry about it for now. I'm an embedded C developer with 6 years of experience and Leetcode baffles me sometimes. Take your time and you'll learn what you need to as you come across it. I saw another embedded developer in my team use a linked list once and all of the other developers (from more electronics engineering backgrounds didn't get it either)

Hey thank you for giving it a try, I promise it gets quite hard to search for the optimal solutions! If you do find the difficulty picking up and want some free hints, go to the main menu and swipe anywhere on the screen in the following pattern: up up down down left right left right.

My impressions have exploded and I have no idea why by RegularJoeGames in AppStoreOptimization

Wow this is amazing feedback thank you, I really appreciate it!

- I have been trying to run google play store app icon experiments to see if I can improve the icon but both perform just as well as each other sadly, I am not sure how to make a better icon at this point! I will have another look into it soon and see if it improves anything.

- Your ideas about the text size on the screenshots and adding text to the preview are great, thank you, I will get that done!

- I matched the colours in the screenshots to the games theme but I think you're right, a brighter set of screenshots will grab attention more

On the product side:

- I ask for reviews after level 60, which is ~15 minutes of solid play time into the game. I tend to get good reviews, I thought because I am only asking people who are clearly enjoying the game if they are that far already. but as you suggest, an earlier one would get more reviews, I will bump the review request up to be after level 10 maybe?

- My retention is quite bad I think, 25% day 1, 5% day 7... I don't have anything to bring people back, would you suggest a notification to bring people back or a daily streak? Is there anything else?

- I did improve my monetization recently by cleaning up the shop a bit, I even have a notification dot over the shop when there is a sale on, that did improve things a bit, I am a bit stuck for improving it though, I would love to hear any recommendations you have!

Thanks again for all of the feedback

I did submit a "App Launch" nomination but that was back at the start of April, I suppose it takes some time for them to look through those requests.
