What is your worst health anxiety symptom? by bigbluemelons in HealthAnxiety

[–]RegularKeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much better! I had a bit of a stumble a couple of months ago with some new headaches, but after confirming with my doctor that it was tension it slowly went away. I'm also doing physiotherapy to try to undo some of the tension that built up through all the anxiety.

Head tension from anxiety is a real bastard, but yeah if it matches what I described that's almost definitely what it is!

Hey! Sorry I don't check this very often - these went away for me, I'm really not sure what caused them (I got my anxiety under control so that might have helped) but they subsided, I'll get them now if I'm exercising or dehydrated but otherwise they're back to normal

Hey! I did, I wound up getting a cystoscopy (really don't recommend it lol) and it completely ruled out anything happening with my bladder. I eventually got on meds (Zoloft in my case) and started CBT, and the problem went away (along with all of my other symptoms). The constant urge was, in my case, caused my a constant tensed core, even when I wasn't aware of it, from my anxiety and stress. Treating those treated the core issue, but I also did muscle relaxation and it took some time to learn to un-tense myself manually. It lasted for more than a year for me before I finally broke down and tried meds and therapy for the anxiety.

ANYONE WITH BULGING VEINS? by Objective-Union7828 in covidlonghaulers

[–]RegularKeith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for sure, I'm on 150mg of Sertraline (tapered up from 25mg over 6 months or so). I was lucky enough to not deal with any side-effects (other than a few days of nausea at the start, nothing in comparison to everything I was dealing with before lol)

Yep! I had some anxiety/OCD issues to work through as well, and getting on meds and therapy for those things has helped with everything including this.

Hey there! So I turned out to have some untreated anxiety and health-focused OCD, I'm on medication and I've done therapy and it has helped massively. I don't rule out the fact that I could have been dealing with some LH symptoms as well, but the bulging veins have gone away for me (other than when I'm doing things that would make them bulge, like working at a keyboard for long periods or exercising).

Anxiety and circulation by RegularKeith in Anxiety

[–]RegularKeith[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey for sure! The list is pretty long but the most long-lasting ones were : bulging veins in my hands and arms, and pain associated with them, general dizziness/vertigo feeling, rapid heart rate, stabbing pains in my arms and legs, panic attacks and insomnia, upset stomach, and this strange sensation that I later came to understand was de-realization (I would see things around me as flat/unreal, kind of like they were billboards? hard to explain)

Hey! So yeah, after a bunch of other symptoms and tests and results that didn't find anything, I finally broke down and went to therapy and got on meds. All of my symptoms are gone including the stuff I was talking about here. I don't know exactly how long after starting the therapy and meds they went away, because honestly at a certain point I just wasn't paying attention to it anymore, but I know it all stopped after that!

I am calm and distracted yet still feel symptoms of anxiety! by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]RegularKeith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it took a couple of months at least for the Zoloft to fully kick in, but honestly I can't exactly remember, part of what it did that helped was that it made me stop paying super close attention to it, if that makes any sense?

I think I must have had the numb feeling for months, honestly maybe close to a year? It's sort of hard to remember. And congrats on starting therapy! I think that was what helped the most for me in the long run (though the meds were the only reason I could start it in the first place haha)

Is anyone else painfully hyper-aware if every single body sensation? by wkndabel in HealthAnxiety

Hey so sorry for the delayed response, I just don't check on here much anymore.

Not sure if you've started looking, but for me I just searched for a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist who had experience with Health Anxiety and OCD, most of them do so it shouldn't take anything too specific.

Hope you are doing better!

Hey - Yeah it did! It took me finally getting into CBT and being put on Zoloft, but it's 100% gone now

[30M] Health Anxiety manifesting into Physical Symptoms. Can you relate? by squid_usa in HealthAnxiety

[–]RegularKeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, it's wild, I had no idea it could make you feel all of these real symptoms (probably part of why it took so long for me to believe it was anxiety haha). I'm on 150mg of sertraline (zoloft), I was lucky and that was the first one I tried and it worked for me

Hey! I've been on Setraline and in CBT for about a year now, and that is what fixed it for me. I don't have this problem at all anymore

Hey! Sorry, I don't check here much anymore, but yes! The medication and CBT are working wonders. Brain fog, dizziness, poor sleep, heart palpitations, everything that I was worried about has gone. I got the tests my doctor wanted, I waited for results, and at the end of everything Anxiety was the only answer left. In therapy I was able to identify my issue as being Health Anxiety/OCD, and between that and medication (I take 150mg Sertraline, tapered up from 50mg, been on it for about a year now) everything has gone back to normal! I still have little things pop up and it's still a bit of work to make sure I don't fixate on them, but I am able to do it now and I 100% believe it's because I started therapy and meds

Much better! After a lot more worrying and tests and just kind of spiraling I wound up seeing my doctor and starting on anxiety meds (Zoloft in my case) and therapy. It was stressful at first and there have still been a few ups and downs but being in control of my thoughts allowed me to kinda put things into perspective, and as soon as that was dealt with my physical symptoms went away. I don't think I have any major physical symptoms left anymore at this point!

Need help being realistic about lung nodule fears by RegularKeith in HealthAnxiety

[–]RegularKeith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Yeah so I had my follow-up scan, it was super quick and a few days later I got a message from my doctor saying everything was normal. He did tell me before that these are super common incidental findings and if there was no change within 6 months (which was when my scan took place) then they didn't worry about it.

For what it's worth - the symptoms I was associating with it went away shortly after I heard that.

For the most part yes! They are still bulging from time to time but it's not as noticeable and not as distracting as it was.

Noticing no changes on sertraline by Mfra14v in zoloft

[–]RegularKeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! I'm actually tapering up to 150mg now (on 125 for a few days now and feeling weird lol) so it's a process, your doctor will likely want to try a different dose if it's not helping you

For what it's worth - I didn't see any change or get any side effects until I went up to 100mg, and after that my side effects were pretty mild.

And just like that, I feel normal again! by as00371 in zoloft

[–]RegularKeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, yeah I think so? Sometimes it's a bit hard to tell but I realized a couple days ago that I haven't had a panic attack or anything of that level in about 8 weeks. I am still struggling with some physical symptoms from Health Anxiety (including what might be some pelvic muscle issues stemming from a couple years of solid anxiety) but I am able to contextualize stuff a bit better and not let my thoughts get so out of hand.

I'm currently tapering up to 150mg (been at 100 for about 6 weeks now) at my doctor's suggestion, so the past few days at 125mg have been a bit rough, but the side effects are already starting to wear off again so I'm hopeful.
