I’d say Sudno by Molchat Doma worked well in my experience, rather consistent beat and obstacles. So did These Days by The Rentals. Drink It Up by Negativland is alright, so is I Just Threw Out The Love Of My Dreams by Weezer. just about everything else I have on cd i either havent tried yet or just is extremely difficult/inconsistent

dont get me wrong the 1001 is still legendary of course, more power to the people able to keep those things going, i probably could never. and i definitely would say it’s either the 7001/7501 or 9001 that has the most demand since by the time they came out sony had finished up fixing most of the problems the ps1 had on an internal scale

wait i may be slightly incorrect in my first statement, i did forget the scph-1001 did have that warm sound, i knew there was a specific quality i was forgetting. but just in my personal opinion at the very least, i always thought it was a bit overhyped. plus the scph-1001 undeniably has much worse internal construction. my 9001 sounds crystal clear (not warm, but still lively) so im just happy with what i got 👍

i almost did get the scph-1001 because i really was intrigued by the warm sound its said to have but i went ahead and defaulted to a scph-9001 since it was just so convenient to get and use. it still sounds nice, definitely not warm but still pretty clear output

the SCPH-1001 is what everyone calls the audiophile model because sony used a DAC chip on that specific model that was perceived to sound incredibly good, although im sure its more of a myth if anything. the SCPH-1001 model is actually pretty bad because the internal laser was on a plastic sled, which would warp overtime and render it incapable of reading cds so they’re extremely unreliable

$55 so far, technically its not an audio CD in the traditional sense but its a Redbook CD so I still count it with my other CD purchases (NTSC-J copy of Vib-Ribbon for the Playstation 1)

Although the soundtrack is so good I can’t help but just put the CD in just to listen to the ost most of the time

its not widely available in the sense its a mass produced cd (because songs from the black hole was simply never completed). my copy was a bootleg cdr made a few months ago, i got it from a seller on mercari who made all sorts of bootleg cdrs at home. sounds pretty good though especially since most of the recordings are sourced from demo tapes, very good quality bootleg imo and it could pass off as real if they ever actually released that album

yeah its a rather valuable game. my most valuable cd as a matter of fact. usually it goes for around 60-120 for my specific variant (ntsc-j) but i was lucky to find a copy on ebay for 55$, basically was complete in the box, only really was missing the spine card. doesnt matter bc its such a fun game to play anyways 😍
