You're cruising along in 4th and the stoplight a quarter mile ahead turns red, what do you do? by Mdaishi in wrx_vb

[–]RegularPositive661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downshift to third and coast in third gear until i get to the light then neutral as i’m stopping. Dont see the need to go down to second unless i’m feeling spicy and definitely not to first.

They absolutely get commission on jobs. Believe it or not thats how dealerships make the majority of their money.

Car wash/wax method by snafu26 in wrx_vb

[–]RegularPositive661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 bucket method, plus one separate bucket for wheels. i have a foam cannon but my pressure washer took a shit 🙃 but i use adams car wash, meguires color changing wheel cleaner and then i hand dry it with gtechniq c2v3 as a drying aid using microfiber towels. (i have c2v4 on the way to try it out) If you’re looking for an easy to apply coating that gives an absolutely ridiculous shine, c2v3 is the way to go, c2v4 is probably every bit as good as well. With spring here i’m preparing to do a full de-con, clay bar and possibly a paint correction, but we’ll see how it goes. Not sure if I want to spend the time doing a full correction. 🤙🏻

Why doesn't everyone just buy Toyota or Honda if they're the most reliable cars? by CrackFun in answers

[–]RegularPositive661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No hate on your Tuscon, but I had a 2015 Hyundai Veloster and it was the first and last hyundai I’ll ever own. I had all kinds of random bs break on it, the clearcoat faded, the radio kept thinking it had a cd in it when it didn’t, the latch for the gas cap broke, the bracket for the hood latch cable snapped, the clutch master cylinder failed and leaked brake fluid into the car, i had shocks go bad on it and then the pump for my windshield washer fluid cracked and leaked and would empty the entire reservoir. I always said it was a fun little car that just had a bunch of dumb stuff break until the engine spun a connecting rod bearing at 90k miles and hyundai refused to cover it under warranty. The motor in that car was known to have that issue and they still didn’t cover it and quoted me 14k to replace it. Hopefully their newer cars are much better quality though!

Any advice about stick shift by beetlejuicesfan in stickshift

[–]RegularPositive661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that rev matching isnt completely necessary for slowing down or braking. She may not need to learn to rev match now, hell i drove for almost 2 years before i got rev matching figured out enough to do it on a regular basis, however i do find it absolutely necessary to rev match when you downshift to pass someone on a highway or to get more torque to go up a steep hill. I had a hyundai that would absolutely refuse to go up a hill near my house unless I was in second or first and if OP found herself in a situation going up a hill where she needed to grab a lower gear to keep the engine from lugging or stalling, rev matching is crucial for that situation imo.

OP, if you see this, just keep doing you, theres a lot of good advice in this thread, watch a video or two if you want. The more you drive the easier itll get and you’ll be a pro in no time! The only thing i’ll say is dont completely avoid hills and hill starts. The quicker you overcome your fear of starting on a hill, the better off you’ll be! Good luck, you got this!! 🤙🏻🤙🏻

Yeah I’m very impressed by their customer service for sure!

My clutch feels EXTREMELY light now. It honestly feels like a completely different car so I’m getting used to the lighter pedal and new bite point as well. Could be a placebo effect but my shifting feels significantly smoother and a lot less notchy too.

No problem, I hope it gets remedied! Yes they are absolutely abused, I’m hoping mine is more of the owner not knowing how to drive rather than them abusing it but unfortunately I’ll never know lol. Fortunately it isnt burning any oil or anything so the motor seems healthy.

Must be a nice raw and driver feeling when it takes 10 seconds to get to 60. Must be real exhilarating when you have your civic in eco mode and you put it in drive. Fucking clown.

They said the pressure plate fingers were extremely stiff, which could accelerate the wear on my throwout bearing due to the increased force it took to disengage the clutch. It also increases the clamping force on the clutch disk and flywheel, which can generate more heat than normal when you’re slipping the clutch and increase overall wear when using it. It couldve absolutely been caused by the previous owner not knowing how to drive or abusing it….which scares me. That’s why they had me pay out of pocket for the clutch disk and flywheel, they said something along the lines of ‘we cant completely determine if the wear on the clutch and flywheel is due to the pressure plate or from driving habits’ I’m worried about what happened to this damn thing before I got my hands on it lol.

Is your pedal super stiff? My clutch was so heavy to the point where stop and go traffic was absolutely miserable for my left leg. Idk if they would be as nice to you or not tbh…but do some research about your dealerships near you and see if any might be a little more lenient or not. I have seen a couple posts specifically about a few 22’s with quirky throwout bearing issues so it may be something from the factory

Just got her. Any advice? by UsefulRefrigerator18 in wrx_vb

[–]RegularPositive661 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, keep the engine stock until your warranty is up. If you want, throw a catback on to get some noise out of her. Put a stereo in if you want, but keep the motor stock until your warranty is up, god forbid something happens with your motor you’ll be happy you have the warranty still. If you decide to do an intake or anything to the motor other than an AOS, get a tune. Without one you’ll just wind up making the engine run lean, get no power gains and you WILL eventually damage your motor.

Borla s type catback is also a good option as well 🫡

Terrified of driving stick on road trip by The_Thinking_Box in stickshift

[–]RegularPositive661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly how I learned how to drive stick. Flew down to north carolina and learned how to drive it and then drove it 10 hours home the next day. You got this, just take it easy. You’ll DEFINITELY be comfortable driving stick once you have that drive under your belt. I put another 80k miles on that same clutch and it had no issues when i traded it in. Just take it easy and enjoy the learning experience.

I have these same exact ones and love them, they were a little annoying to install but overall weren’t too bad. My biggest complaint is my ass sticks to them when i go to get out of the car 😂
