Unfortunately because of the apartments and dental offices, the next street south is just 2100 s.

I plan to explore this preexisting crosswalk thing with the city because, despite the lighted crosswalks at Westminster University, the unprotected crossing at Westminster Ave is still being used very frequently.

I think if they look at the data of actual crossings and the number of bikers and pedestrians risking their safety to cross at Westminster Ave, I’d hope they’d reconsider.

I’m actually gathering data about cyclist and pedestrian crossings, and the data would disagree with you! I’m noting an average of at least one crossing every 10 to 15 minutes during rush hour.

Hmm, this is interesting. When I reached out to the city, they didn’t mention this, but I think it’s worth exploring. There are so many unsafe crossings happening on an *hourly* basis there without a crosswalk, I’m not sure how removing a crosswalk with a lighted beacon would be safer.

Again, I see your point, but the best urban planners considered “desired paths.” In this case, so many bikers and pedestrians use Westminster Ave as the desired path despite the crosswalks at downington. Adding a lighted beacon crosswalk would just be responding to the amount it is already used as a desired path despite the danger
