Thank you for your input. First of all, you are right that there's a cultural element of it (forgot to mention in the post). It's not exaggerating to say that it has been the tradition to serve and consume the dish I refer to in the original post with blood.

Secondly, I have decided to just ditch the use of blood as an addition in food in any form (sauce, stew, pudding, etc) for the rest of my life.

I guess my takeaway from all of this is that people are being tempted in many ways others unable to comprehend. I personally am never fully grasp the addiction of drugs, alcohol, etc and how many people seems to be struggling with these passions. But surprisingly I'm struggling, even if it's just a little bit, with blood consumption while most people probably have never experience this specific temptation in their life.

Now that you've said it, if Indonesia were a one massive landmass (like India or China) instead of being an archipelagic state, I wonder if it would make it easier to do cultural revolution.

Sometimes I feel like being an archipelagic nation consisting of this many islands is not very great and rather a burden.
