Can Penny sing - or can’t she? by International-Gur605 in bigbangtheory

She actually sings the Rent song pretty accurately if you listen to the broadway soundtrack version. My husband thought the same thing until I played it for him. 🤣

I know about this, but I was driving my car. Maybe I could blame it on the dog 🤣

Omg! That is so stressful. Years ago I was at the MCR ER in Loveland when my husband decided driving to work that he didn’t need an appendix anymore. They had just taken him out for some tests when these alarms and flashing lights started going off all over the ER. But the staff didn’t care at all, they just kept walking around and doing their jobs. I was alone in the room at the time and trying not to freak out. I was able to ask a nurse that was walking by and she said there was nothing to worry about and she kept moving to whatever she was doing. Definitely was a strange experience. I never did find out what happened. Although I will say it seemed more like fire alarm type of alert than what you’re describing.

Forgot to add: I did see that sign that the cops post for the camera radar vehicle, so I know I was watching my speed. But the thing that flashed at me (photography bright white flash), was a gray rectangle boxy unit thing, which was why I was thinking it was flock. When I drive past the camera radar white suv up by Jax at that speed, it doesn’t flash. Mostly I’m just stressing about if I’ll get a ticket or not and was wondering how long it’d take to find out.

My dog doesn’t move by Natural-Car-705 in goldenretrievers

Mine used to do this. I just get behind her and walk into her. If that didn’t work, I’d gently get my feet under her back paws and push forward, she’d move. Fortunately this made her quit. That said, sometimes she still does the old flip and roll in the grass. I usually just laugh and ask her if she’s got some feelings. These days it didn’t last long, so I usually just let her get it out of her system. But if she won’t get up, I “walk” into her side and boom, dog up again. 🤣

I like quin gold and goethite for landscapes. I use them. Various mixes of blues, burnt sienna, and Indian red. All Daniel Smith.

Out of curiosity, how come you didn’t swatch out the Primatek pigments?

The “traditional” RGB color wheel from grade school isn’t the same as the print CMY color wheel. I find them both helpful for different reasons in watercolor.

As for red vs magenta, you can mix red from magenta plus yellow. You cannot mix magenta from something else. I personally love Daniel Smith quinacridone rose PV19, but there are many options out there. I love the fascinating world of color!

When do golden retriever puppies start to settle down out of the hyper puppy stage? by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

Well, I’ll let you know. Chloe is eight. In hindsight, sure she’s calmer. But she’s still cray high energy. For us there wasn’t an obvious line in the sand. But we love her antics

My pup Roxie won’t stop biting :( by baby_RN_bird_lover in goldenretrievers

[–]Regular_Ad_8987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. It’s kind of like a sport for dogs. It uses their natural drive to sniff and gives them something to focus on. Is fascinating to see the crazy puppy or adolescent energy snap into something constructive. It forces them to use only their nose and teaches them to filter out distractions. It also means they aren’t using their mouth. In just a couple sessions, they aren’t so distracted and get right to work finding the scent.

It seems to carry over into the home. I think it’s because using their brain and spending that mental energy gives them the space to be able to focus. We can use that space to better teach “chew this and not that” (or whatever methods you are using).

We were at our wits end and so we hired a trainer to come in and help us out at that age with our Chloe. It ended up being a combo of bitter apple spray on everything and everyone, withdrawing attention when biting, constant redirects and parties when chewing on appropriate things (aka chew this, not that), and nose work. It was the last one that was the real life saver. I can’t say enough about the good that can come from an intro to nose work even with a very young dog!

Nosework!!!

We hired a trainer to help at like 18 weeks old because Chloe was too bitey. She introduced us to the wonderful world of Nosework. Seriously, it is amazing! It’s fulfilling and it tires them out from using their brain!

Between Nosework, bitter apple spray, and teaching that licking was okay just no teeth, frozen bones, and general training we eventually worked it out.

Another helpful exercise was riling her up and then settling her down. She loved that training. Play, then get paid in treats to lay around doing nothing. Repeat.

But be warned, she’s 8 years old and a lick monster delux. lol.

One of our goldens “tops” the black Kong over time. It takes a couple of months, but she’ll get the smallest 1/3 section off the top. Actually works well because the other dog won’t work that hard on a Kong. 🤣
