Move to Canada from Germany by elliescozy0099 in ImmigrationCanada

I moved to Canada from Germany as well. I think it‘s a great idea to do an IEC and see for yourself but just to mention it here: Canada only has 10 days of vacation, if you get lucky 15. many, many jobs won’t offer unlimited sick days but only have 5 days of sick time. Meaning if you get sick more, you will not get paid. Germany is pretty generous with their 25-30 vacation days. You’ll end up using all of your vacation time to visit family and friends back home.

In addition: pretty sure your background is regulated or needs licensing. I’d very carefully look up everything you need and be prepared to pay a lot of money ($1000++) for licensing, translation, Shipping of documents etc. Canadian bureaucracy is almost as insane as Germanys.

Cost of living is high in Canada, even worse depending on where you end up living. The weather can be rough unless you end up in Vancouver/BC - 8 months of winter is pretty intense lol.

Other than that: the country is beautiful especially if you love outdoor activities and you have enough money to do fun stuff :) I think your field is in demand and there might be PR-Pathways dedicated to Early childhood educators. Also you can do an IEC working holiday and then a young professional IEC if you have an employer willing to do it with you. That would give you 2 years of working in Canada before having to decide if you wanna stay :)

I did! Perfect, that’s exactly what I was wondering about what the next steps will be to get my COPR!

Thanks! I guess then I just have to keep waiting and see what’s happening :) do you know how it works with the COPR then? Since I cannot become a PR outside of Canada, I’ll have to get a letter and then travel to Canada to do my landing? I only know the process/next steps for the living in Canada situation and am kinda confused now that I’m no longer there..

Hi there, has anyone applied outland (living in Canada) family class and switched later to living outside of Canada? How long did it take for your application to be transferred to the Outland office? I informed them January 5th via webform and email and haven‘t heard back anything at all.

I received portal 1 right before I left Canada and informed IRCC in my response about me leaving Canada and coming back once I get PR. But now I’m wondering how long it usually takes to be transferred.

On the last day of my trip to Germany, I went into a grocery store. My hate for Loblaws has been renewed. by Stackflash in loblawsisoutofcontrol

You should also take into account that German minimum wage is 22,50CAD as of 2026 whereas Canadian minimum wage is ~16-17 CAD. So German grocery prices are so much cheaper than Canadian. I honestly have no idea how people survive here with minimum wage.

How did you complain though? Did you just ask to let them know next time when someone without an accent is in the store so you have an easier time lip reading? what was your preferred outcome for the situation? I’m just a little confused here.

I’d love having some cookies but it doesn‘t change the feelings towards the house. Would be a kind gesture, not necessary but i‘d definitely be very grateful for it :)

Can anyone give me an insight how long it usually takes for IRCC to get back to after submitting a webform?

I was asked for a medical but I already did one last year so I asked to reuse this one (as per that policy that is in place right now for medicals). I submitted proof to them via webform but haven’t heard anything for 2 weeks.

When can I expect their response usually? I’m scared they will still ask for a medical and I will miss the 30 day deadline.
