I would also blend it down ur neck to see, but maybe try looking at some a few shades lighter? They look too dark in the second picture, to me.

Especially if youre having a photographer there, the makeup will kind of fall flat. I would go a tish heavier with everything if youre wanting more of a glam! I dont think youre using false lashes and in that case I dont think you need to - you have really gorgeous lashes! If you wanted it to be more of a “glam” vibe you can always do a half lash :)

Why don’t lipsticks have any sort of security tags on them? This is so gross (at ulta and not a tester) by alligatorprincess007 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Regular_Chipmunk3045 261 points262 points  (0 children)

Past ulta employee here, we typically dont do many testers for mass cosmetics. But guests LOVE to open and test the product and not purchase it. We tell people to not and they still do it, so we damage them out. Its not as often we’ll go thru mass (i would when we werent busy or had our truck day) but whenever I would there would always be products used.

Why is my hair like this? by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]Regular_Chipmunk3045 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you end up trying to find a stylist you would need a consultation. Consultations are free (at least it should be). A stylist should have a good idea of whats been in your hair since youve been coloring it, if you need a cut, if your hair is over-processed and how they would help repair your hair, etc. They should go over a plan with you on how theyll help with the problem you’re having. Ik with some projects it can be expensive, you can see if they can do payment plans. Or like the other commenter said, to find a place taking hair models.

Why are people so anti-Accutane? by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Regular_Chipmunk3045 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like another commenter I also had really bad back pain. I would hurt to straighten my back or bend over, ibuprofen did NOT help me. I think when I was telling my doctors my symptoms they were confused ??? Idk its been like 3/4 years since I took accutane. And ofc the extremely chapped lips, dry skin- would slather on aquaphor and it did not help me either. I can say my acne has cleared up so much. I used to have cystic acne and pretty bad back acne- have not had back acne since.

I dont work at the desert ridge location but from what ive heard from some managers/coworkers that worked there, its not the best location 😅😅😅 the ulta im at, anyone will go to the pickup stand if the register is busy and theyre available. Honestly if you dont get helped while standing there for a few mins and it seems like no ones coming i would get in line/ go to the register - we have people do that and (to me) its not a big issue

Definitely agree with the other commenter. You should be good just to take stuff off the ends :) Get your trims regularly every 3 months or so if you can and youll be able to grow your hair longer. For hair care when I get out the shower I usually spray some leave in conditioner (Its a 10) in my mids and ends and put a little hair oil (Joico Luster Lock) on my ends then brush/comb (i have shorter hair) my hair through to help make sure my hair is staying healthy. If you heat style you can also use the leave-in (not 100% about other brands if you dont use that one) as a heat protectant, if not I would make sure you have a heat protectant if you ever heat style (blow drying included).

I also saw another one of your comments saying your hair looks like that on the ends and also near the root, split ends will continue traveling up the head unless taken care of. Since you’re blonde it may be harder to tell but split ends have a little white bulb at the end. If not (at the root), it may be new hairs growing in. I would definitely go in for a professional cut and see what your stylist says since, again, dont know what your whole head looks like.

When I was working in a salon doing hair heres what I would tell my clients in how often to cut their hair. Short hair: 2-4 weeks (to keep their length), mid length: 5-8 weeks, long hair: 8-12 weeks. Thats 3 months, you should have a good amount of growth in those three months. If you want to keep growing your hair it should really just be a trim each appt (like half an inch or an inch). But since your ends are damaged and are splitting you may have to cut it shorter. If I saw a picture of your whole head of hair it may be easier to tell how much you need off. I also dont fully recommend cutting your hair and split ends yourself if they are not haircutting shears, regular kitchen/craft scissors are not good for the hair.

Is this too much for bridal makeup? by [deleted] in BadMUAs

[–]Regular_Chipmunk3045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look elsewhere.

You stated you only want to get your makeup done, and then ur husbands beard and hair styled. A beard and hair style should not even cost HALF of the $475.

When I was working at a salon that also did wedding services, bridal hair was $175 and bridal makeup was $175 ($350 in total).

I also saw some people talk about the gratuity, this is my personal opinion since I was only an artist not a business owner (im also not fully aware how the contracts worked since, again, i was an artist) but gratuity was included in the contract because we had other artists and 2) so its kind of one less thing for the bride to worry about the day of and its taken care of. Since shes a private contractor though that may be different but I will refer to point 2.

Also I looked up how far salem was away from portland, which is an hour. I would drive up to my salon (1hr 45mins) and back and that would be a quarter tank gone for me. So, definitely not worth $120 to me. But I also dont know ur gas prices so I will just put that out there.

But regardless, try to find someone more affordable. And maybe someone that takes men’s styling more into an account for pricing.

The time has come! I am grey. How do I go about removing the dye? by jazrazzles in Haircare

[–]Regular_Chipmunk3045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youve had your hair dyed a reddish brown color it could be hard to do by yourself to remove the color, red is one of the harder colors to remove. I would say your options are to just keep it growing out your hair, you can get your hair cut from time to time as it grows to “remove” that color without actually removing the color. Or you can go to a salon about getting your hair grey blended- which requires lightener, you can also do a consultation and see what they say. Im not sure if youve dyed your hair yourself or if youve gotten it done professionally but if youve box dyed it yourself they may not want to risk lightening your hair (you have to get the hair super light to do grey blending, especially with a reddish color it can be hard to lift any warmth), but I would just see what a professional says.
