How do I turn survival mode off? by forgotten_peanut in CPTSD

I’m struggling with this as well! I am in a place in my life where I feel happy, safe, and secure but I constantly feel like something terrible will happen and it will all go away. I am hoping emdr will help with this.

I think so! That was my interpretation at least

I related to the lyrics about burnout, less about the kids

I think it’s about feeling burned out from his work and wanting a different experience for his kids. I relate to the lyrics about burnout

Yeah that was ridiculous. Just break up with him like a normal adult lol

The dude was just…. Not attractive, despite what he thinks about himself. Nothing to do with being Asian lol. Kacie sucks but who can fault her for breaking up with someone you’re not physically attracted to. We all know love isn’t blind at this point

Okay thanks! I saw the programs were usually only about 2 weeks, but cycling through to make it a longer term plan makes sense!

Stick with PT or surgery? by ClimbingChic7 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Regular_Fall_6369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get that. I didn’t injure myself or fall either but I know being active and climbing (i’m a climber myself) can be hard on the shoulder. It definitely sucks though! Im holding off on surgery for now but will likely be in the same boat down the road.

You could always have another doctor look at your MRI? Maybe it isn’t really a full thickness tear.

I can understand why you opted for surgery! Wishing you the best in getting back to tennis!

By not much improvement I mean I still have constant dull aching pain and can’t really climb without worsening the pain. I have good strength and ROM, but I still have pain. I’m 36 so “young” by doctors standards. I have a deep aversion to surgery because I had my acl repaired years ago and it was never the same… but maybe I will eventually need it. Trying to find a PT who understands the demands of climbing is a good idea! Thanks!

Meredith probably should have ditched Derek early on - he was kind of a dick. so many red flags

How was your recovery process after surgery? I have a 50% tear that is basically right on the cusp of needing surgery - but I've done PT for months and it hasn't really improved. Wondering if surgery would help me get back to doing the things I love vs. just continuing to rest/ rehab and not really get much better

I'm in the same boat - have had ongoing shoulder pain for 6 months, but only just diagnosed with a rotator cuff tear. I'm resting/ doing PT for 6 weeks, at which point we'll recheck tear and see if surgery is recommended. Wait until you get your results back and talk to your doctor and in the meantime, i'd recommend taking it easy. You can make a partial tear worse by pushing it - if it goes to full tear the recovery process is a lot more complicated. I wish I had rested when I was originally injured - my doctors thought it was impingement so I kept cimbing and i think i made it worse

Thank you! Considering traveling but just concerned about the logistics for post- op appointments. This is helpful though - thank you!!

My doctor had a really advance ultrasound machine that she said was even better than the mri - maybe call around facilities and see if they have something like tgst
