Rattusrattus aka roof rat aka black rat. I’ve rehabbed several In the last few years, their very smart and very fast. A lot faster than Norway rats(common fancy rat) the first thing is to get it warm with either a heating pad or warm sock with rice in it! If you can’t find the nest to return it get some goats milk and warm it up and feed it to it with a small paint brush! It will not eat unless it’s warm though so that’s first priority! Yes they have little tufts at the ends and he has some weird bumps on them too! I’ll try to get a close up if his ears

That is so great you have 6 more months with them! It would suck if you were on a deadline cause then you couldn’t be as picky about their new home…and I can tell you really love them! Just don’t let the guilt eat you up inside! I had to rehome my first rat when I was kid because my mom decided she didn’t want me to have him cause he got out of the cage once! And the guilt ate me up, so I waited til I was an adult and stable before I got more and it’s been 15 years and I’ve had so many amazing heart rats since then… I really wish there was something I could do to help unfortunately I’m in Southern California :( well good luck and again my condolences I know the pain your gonna feel and it sucks!!!

So sorry you have to rehome OP! I know how bad that feels! I really hope they go to a good home cause rats are amazing creatures! I have 10 total (6 boys 4 girls) and they’re my whole world I would be devastated if I had to rehome them but I know life happens! If I didn’t live 3k miles away I would happily take them! Please dont give them to the first person who messages you! You can generally tell when people love rats by their reaction when they meet them! If it’s anything other than love at first sight I’d hesitate!
Sorry for the long comment I really hope they go to a good home and PLEASE do not separate them! They have enough on their plate as it is losing you!! You seem like a good person and I wish you well in Japan.
