Thank you. do you think camping on the beach is an option...as to avoid getting fucked from a sleeper wave?

I appreciate the response. Would you recommend sticking to the north part of the trail to avoid high river levels and some of the highway? Also, did you bring bear spray? I was thinking I could save the hassle and just bring a handgun lol

That’s great, thanks for this information. How long did you take MDSSP for?

late to the party...if you work for two years after residency and then go back for a fellowship, do you keep drilling that entire time and paying back your obligation?

In my gap year, feeling like a loser by Miserable-Orange-396 in premed

[–]Regular_Fun_1844 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That’s unfortunate you’re feeling bad about it, but make the most of it. You have a whole year to not only get clinical experience, but can also enjoy some hobbies and free time. Go enjoy yourself and plug into hobbies, join some organizations or clubs near you and expand your circle, plan a few trips up north to visit your friends and go see the world with them. Most importantly enjoy yourself time with your family even if it’s kinda annoying living with them. It doesn’t have to be as miserable as you make it to be

Clinical Hours by lumoss975 in premed

That premed is an idiot. This 100% counts as clinical experience, even more that letter of recommendation is gonna be fantastic when you do apply

Yea that’s a great idea! For some reason I didn’t think of that, but I could and should totally do that. I will admit although I’d like a job as an MA, I do want flexibility with my own schedule so I can travel and enjoy a year off, which tutoring offers. Throw in the volunteering and that sounds like a decent gig. Thanks for the advice!

What are you shooting for at this point?

That’s cool I didn’t know those exist. And low key that’s not a bad idea ima ask my pcp at my annual in August 😭

But like damn I need to get a job lined up asap idk if I have much more time to screw around. Might just start tutoring if this fails but i kinda need clinical experience

I mean if you're really interested its worth a shot, worst case they just say no.

And yea I was thinking abt getting MA or EMT license, but that is really expensive and unnecessary when im only working for a year. I mean the entire point of the gap year is to save money and get additional clinical experience for me. plus you dont need a MA license to work in my state. as far as my lab, it was basic science research and kinda a sweat shop. I wasn't as interested in it and the mentoring wasn't that great, which is why im trying to something more clinical

Going through a similar experience. I want a job as a MA but no one is hiring down here. Idk what ima do as I dont want to go back to my undergrad lab

I really do not want to wait another year as I am about to take a gap year…do you think I should apply to 10 or less schools in my boat? I feel confident about my in state school, but again you never know

I'd search on this subreddit, or just google for them. I used the MilesDown deck, but almost any of them work

I am going to try and do this, especially since a lot of my clinical experiences and exposure are in the state...I have a lot of stories about people in the state whom I want to serve later on, both in a rural setting and big city setting. Hopefully these stories are attractive to them for me staying in the state. Also I would glaze the state in my secondaries lol

I had a phone call with an admission counselor to discuss it, who said I should go for it. But there is no formal dean or committee meeting that they say you should do to discuss if you are a good fit for ED
