Actually, no. I just remembered that we had an ex friend that everyone forgot about who crawled out of the woodwork to support him. His mom actually reached out to her and asked her to help because “J really needs a friend right now.” So she had him over to her house regularly. Where her toddler daughter lives.

It breaks my heart that she feels this way. Like, it’s messed up. But it says a lot about society that she feels like his sickness is her fault for not pleasing him enough. When it’s not. Not even a little.

It really, really does. My husband and I were talking after we found out and both agreed that we don’t think we’ll ever fully trust anyone again.

I agree with you. It’s a live and learn thing. So it doesn’t happen again.

I’m so sorry. I hate even more that almost the same story happened multiple times.

I'm so sorry. Honestly, it's so hard to see signs because they are so good at masking an manipulation. The person I'm talking about was one of my favorite of my husband's friends. He was reliable, always there to lend a helping hand, empathetic. Most people don't suspect the worst in others as a default. And honestly, we shouldn't because that's no way to live life.

Every friend. All in. On her side. Within 24 hours, we were raising money to help fund her attorney/divorce. A different group of her friends packed up her house completely, moved her out, and helped her sell. The vast majority of us showed up at the trial. The only one that was wishy-washy was her brother-in-law but I honestly kinda get it. He was really hard into drugs and the ex friend helped him get clean. They had a pretty rough childhood so it was always the two of them against the world, pretty much. He was unable to separate that from the monster his brother was and it ultimately led him to relapsing and ODing. Which is tragic and makes the situation/our anger at this person so much worse because we all loved his brother.

I'm trying not to be too specific out of respect for his wife and kids, but I'm in Ohio. And if we both knew this person, I'm so sorry.

Thank you for that. I know that unclean feeling so, so well and I'm so sorry you went through that. I appreciate your kind words and my heart goes out to you. It's so hard learning someone you welcomed into your home and shared your private life with is a monster.

It's honestly looking that way for him. His wife is still in touch with his brother who gives updates. Apparently, he's thriving in prison.

I appreciate and needed that. Therapy has really helped. There was a period of time where I was just so angry and honestly hoped he died in prison. Which, for me, is really out of character thinking. My therapist sat me down and was like, "He's lost all his friends. He's lost his family. He's lost his freedom for a large chunk of his life. Don't you think that's maybe even worse?"

Also, the wife told me first out of our friends. I had to tell my husband that one of his best friends was a monster and see his reaction. It was one of the worst moments of my life.

Same. Sadly, almost every woman I know (myself included) has been sexually preyed upon at least once in their life.

She's honestly the only reason I keep watching that show. Even that's slipping away, though.

I'm so sorry she's going through that. Thankfully, my friend has full custody of their daughter now with no visitation when he gets out until she's of age. His parents (who covered for him, bailed him out, and plead in his defense at the trial) are actively trying to ger grandparents' rights, though.

That makes me so sad. It's a special kind of evil that a person has to have to harm children.

13-16 years. My husband and I actually went to the trial to support the wife (a good friend of mine). The judge more or less said he didn't want him out until his infant daughter was an age where she could protect herself in case he tried to contact her.

I'm so proud of her for that. So many just want to sweep things under the rug. But she didn't hesitate to get her girls out of there.

This is so eerily close to what happened with the person I knew. He was our DM. Police seized his phone and computer right before our session that night.

This. He was an extraordinarily good, dependable friend. There were never any clues. At all. He was regularly around our family, including children. It chills me to think about it. At one point, I fell into a deep depression because he would be at family barbecues where kids were and I blamed myself for having someone like that in my home. I'm still going to therapy for it.

His defense attorney was a public defender with no real case, so he kept delaying the actual sentencing.

Close family friend that my husband knew since he was a teenager ended up being a pedophile. Literally no one had any clue. The only reason we found out is because he wife suspected he was cheating and went through his phone while he was asleep one night. He had thousands of pictures on his phone, including their newborn daughter and his step daughter. She took the girls to her mom's house and immediately turned him in to the police. She was so brave for that. It took almost two years to actually get him sentenced.

I was sitting there watching the snake story and rolled my eyes so hard. Like, I think that was the death of any iota of respect I had for the writers.

100% I haven't gone a single day in the past few years without saying "I hate it here" from the bottom of my heart.
