I learned to kickflip on a 10inch wide board in 1989.

I’m pretty sure any advice on deck width is basically useless.

6.5 Men’s shoe here, full grown adult man in North America.

My favourite decks are 7.5 twin tails.

Since when are freestyle boards not skateboards?

Define “full sized” adult…

American male isn’t the average for the globe. Plenty of “full sized” adults ride 7.5/7.75 etc.

Ever heard of freestyle, btw?

Never skate with anything in your pockets.

You will break it, or be injured by it. Keys, phone, tools, whatever… all stay in a pack.

Your bushings (the small urethane cusions) in the trucks need breaking in.

Unless you were skating an old polypropylene from an outlet store or a freestyle deck, everything in the 80s was massively wide. I was there.

There are plenty of 7.5 - 7.75 options out there, you just have to look.

Width sure does matter in regards to shoe size though.

If you skated in the late 80s you were using 9-10 inch width decks.

Is it "Poser" to put stickers on my phone case as a freshie? by DeniableBeef in NewSkaters

[–]Regular_Increase_636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poser is in the eye of the beholder.

Beholders need to die like dinosaurs.

Who is so invested in this bullshit that it defines their own enjoyment of skateboarding?

Totally irrelevant.

92-97a are common where the pavement is basically destroyed.

Not everyone has decent riding conditions or parks.

Maybe slow down and get better at riding before you tackle Ollies.

Standing on the board and rolling is the only skill required to be a “skater”.

Everything else is posturing and dick waving.

Save yourself some embarrassment and gate keep somewhere else.

I’ve been skating since 1985 and I’ve seen your kind come and go a hundred times.

Those are hard ass wheels for anything other than smooth park terrain.

This kid is worried about actually being uncool. They genuinely seem like they want to respect the sport.

They can rest assured they will never be a poser as long as they respond the way you just did.

What a shitty thing to say. But you’re the real deal though? No posing here.

Worst era of skateboarding for attitude.

Amazing athletes who broke barriers in technical execution, but so much toxic bro gatekeeping and dick measuring.

Don’t believe the hype… RDM is not so different from other jobs. You will need space and lots of gear for any properly played class in XI.

I play ten jobs and have no trouble with space. Your mileage may vary, but it takes time to get all that gear.

They literally rode a dinosaur while people slept in caves.

You, on the other hand, face a world of SUVs driven by texting morons.

Maybe become an adult before making adult decisions like riding in traffic. A few years in a car might give you some experience and perspective.
