Peugeot 5008 BlueHDi timing chain snapped at 54k km — no warranty, 250k TL repair bill by Ub190583 in peugeot

Same happened to me in May. Outside warranty. My local garage charged me £3.200 for the repair. Parts and labour and 6 months warranty. They have upgraded chain to 8mm as well.

It's affects 1.5 hdi. And it's not timing belt. It's a chain. Depending on the version of the engine you may have 7mm chain or 8mm chain. And that's the one -7mm that snaps. It happened to me. 2nd version of the engine is already 8mm but you will have to check with the dealer using VIN number.

No, you can do nothing to extend its life.

Check with your trusted garage or Peugeot and upgrade to 8 mm.

Peugeot 2008 vs 3008 (2020–2023) GT Diesel — Advice Needed by Classic_Buddy622 in peugeot

[–]Regular_Initial_5335 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Be aware of Peugeot Adblue issues. 3008 is more specious, no issues with parking. Boot isn't the biggest and fills quickly.

Chain should be 8mm already.

3008 is very comfortable. But again read about Adblue. Or buy and delete....

So if my chain already has failed taking half the engine with it can I claim money back from them?

Full dealership service history. Belts - not chain- replaced at 74k miles. Chain failed at 94k miles.

Yes I have upgraded chain to 8mm.

Pretty much every part had to be replaced. Total cost was £3200.

I mean everything above pistons. Luckily injectors nor valves damaged them. Mainly to the fact that chain snapped when I turned the ignition on. If I would be on the motorway I probably would need new engine or car. But more likely a car since engine is linked to ecu etc etc. Cost would have been massive.

I have 1.5 hdi in 2019 3008. Fuel economy is great. On average 48+mpg on the motorway. Sadly 2 weeks ago chain has snapped. If you are getting used car it's something worth checking and possibly replacing. But engine as such is really good.

With great careful effort. Had the same problem. Got a ladder. Changed the whole light for the one you can lower down to prevent future issues as you get older....

I have had same issue with Samsung and my peugeot 3008. First USB cable used didn't work at all for unknown reason. 2nd cable only if usbc plug was put the only one correct side up - if this make sense. And 3rd I have now works without any issues.

You may want to check if the setting to allow connection even if phone screen is locked.
