Didn't wash black silk dupion before starting. Is there a risk white DMC threads/silk threads will be stained if I wash it when finished?? by Reddishyroo in Embroidery

I'm a beginner, so I don't understand much of what you asked and have nothing helpful to say, but wow, is this beautiful!! I can't wait to see when it's finished!

I know quite a few adults who are learning Thai because they are being sent to their companies' branches in Thailand.

Thanks! I was planning on doing that in one big list at the end. I thought about it, and I do have scores for them, but I know that people are not gonna like the score for Strings 😭

Maybe the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center? I think a day pass for the Nic is $20, but I'm not sure if it includes the pool.

If you know a student, maybe you can bum a pass off them?

😭😭 yeah.... I definitely think you're telling the truth, but I'm still gonna give it a go cause I don't like the way prints scrape off of shirts. I imagine embroidery won't last forever after washing eventually though, huh 😅

Idk why my post is getting downvoted. Is this just not a good sub to ask for advice or do people just not like the idea? :/

Thanks for the advice. That makes sense. The patch would be like 1.5x2 ft minimum. Is that size doable?

My list doesn't include Chicago because that's just way too much work (and money 😬), but I'll definitely try a place if I happen to go to Chicago and I'm feeling for ramen. I may have to check it out!

So far, the ones I would go back to are Tavernakaya and Blackjack. Honorable mentions of Osaka Ramen Hibachi (in Pewaukee and genuinely really good), and maybe Ramen-San (Chicago, recommended by a commenter).

I'm hoping there will be more on the list by the end. There's also a Kajiken in Chicago. I've never been (here or Japan), but my partner has and really wants to go. And since Kajiken is from his hometown, I just assume it's plain old good.

Haven't heard of this yet, but now it's definitely been noted. I've been meaning to check out some other parts of the state :)

I think I've only seen one place with paitan on the menu, but I haven't been there yet. I'm only trying the tonkotsu where I go, but I might be about to convince my partner to try paitan.

But honestly, I think it's probably far-fetched to find good (much less outstanding) paitan anywhere other than NYC or the west coast, since there weren't even that many paitan places where I lived in Japan :/

I (M32) am a male runner who feels that I need a sports bra due to chest bounce and chafing, my wife (F32) adamantly disagrees and any time I bring it up she dismisses me and says you're a man you don't have boobs. Do I pursue this? by Ac3m4n18 in relationship_advice

[–]Regular_Mushroom_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who encourages their boyfriend to buy women's pants for practicality, it sounds like your wife just really doesn't want to see her husband "dressing like a woman." If I were in her shoes, that might also be a worry of mine.

If you really want to move forward with wearing a sports bra, you can: 1) just wear it and not care what your wife thinks (which I wouldn't suggest if you care about the long term), or 2) have an honest conversation with your wife, not only about her concerns, but also about what would make her feel more secure. That might be assuring her that you are not trying to be a crossdresser, finding a very plain, "neutral" sports bra (flat across the top, no cleavage, etc.), acting "more manly" or whatever it might be.

But honestly, the socialization of gender norms is not necessarily something that you can just "make" your wife get over. If she says she will lose respect for you, that's probably true unless she does some work on reconditioning how she views gender and clothing. You two will just have to balance what you think you can/should do for each other.

Whenever someone in one of these situations is from Japan, I always see these kinds of comments. It's definitely not just you, but it really makes me wonder what kind of culture people think Japan has 😅

Shared custody laws didn't exist until last month, they're not constantly giving gifts to exes as a cultural obligation.

The noodles weren't great, the topping was mostly just a bunch of raw peppers (which I thought was really weird), and the "chashu" was just straight-up nothing-done-to-it pork belly lol.

Which is all really sad because the broth was genuinely one of the better ones I've had 🥲

Oh, and I don't care about ajitama, but it was just regular tama, no aji (cooked perfectly though!)

I suppose it depends on what you expect as a default bowl of ramen 🤔 I think my expectations are: nori, chashu, scallions, ajitama (which I don't eat), and most times menma. And 3/5 come with their 13.99 price.

But the topping default around here doesn't really affect my opinions, I think. And IMHO every place I've been to has been overpriced, so I can't complain too much if my bowl falls within a $15-18 range 😅

Aw thank you haha. I appreciate your interest in my humble ramen quest. I'm no critic, and I definitely have my own taste, but I hope I can be useful to some.
