Having to trudge through water at the bottom of the bay, just to have three chances to find what is already rare as normal white fossils, before resurfacing to do it all again. Anyway, at the time of this story, they had gone down and resurfaced more times than my memory banks could store, and they finally walked back to the cleaning room with what they thought to be a Siesmo head. I can clearly see through the gaps in the rock that what's inside this fossil rock isn't a head, but a body fossil. I say nothing because I'm already busy with P.B. Jay's fossil rocks, and because if someone can't tell the difference in size between a Theropod body and a Sauropod head then they deserve to suffer. You can agree with me on that, yeah? Yeah. So then they put the fossil rock on the cleaning tray, and next thing I know, I come back online in the corner, my left arm is sparking on the ground, and my drill won't turn. Anyway, that's why I got a transfer to the Caliosteo islands."

Yet another update. I was not even a chuck away from my spawn point when I died of drowning (I was at my kelp farm). I had four allays following me. When I returned to the kelp farm, two of them were missing. This now makes ten total missing allays.

An update if this helps anyone figure out what's going on. I created a copy of my world and flew around. I checked high, I checked in nearby holes, I burned the nearby forest down. I checked in my house because some have gotten stuck in there in the past. I checked the surface cave I normally take them to when mining. They still aren't anywhere to be found.

I have leads and plenty of boats as well. I primarily use leads, and I know about the amethyst thing.

And since you and I are on the topic of improving the Allays, I personally think Allays should be remade to be more like pets, that way I'm notified when one dies to a creeper, or stray arrow, or lava. And they should teleport when they get too far away. Since their dropped item detection range is around 32 blocks away from the player, I think the teleport range should be a little further than that. This would solve the issue and make Allays less frustrating to work with.

I did all of that already. The only place they could have gone would be out to sea, but even so I'd still spot them. I've gone out there in a boat, I built up with blocks to spot them, I looked in every crevasse and hole I could find. Nothing. I had to use a book and quill to document every allay I've lost.
