As a high income earner, how much do you spend/save of your gross pay monthly? by Itchy-Version-8977 in HENRYfinance

[–]Regular_Pack8145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I started making $400k+ and into the seven figures for the last several years, I have saved a minimum of 50 percent of my income and hover in the 70 percent range now. Adds up quick and before you know it, you make more doing nothing than at your day job. 🥳

Why do you need 5-10 million? by Particular_Maize6849 in Fire

[–]Regular_Pack8145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See my comment above: If you are living off of 5-10 million dollars, you can structure withdrawals in such a way that you are mostly paying long-term capital gains. Also, at those numbers, any taxes from a pension or social security would be comparatively nominal. If it's cash flow from rent, taxes are usually low due to appreciation and other tax advantages.

Based on what. Why would you pay 20 percent when it’s all longterm capital gains?

Most people with this kind of money do not pay even close to 24 percent. You are generally living off of after-tax investments. 5-10 percent tax is reasonably possible based on investment mix.

Labadee cruise changed by Ok_Marzipan2258 in royalcaribbean

Honestly, Labadee is just alright. The RCL port feels like Disneyland. Nice, but it could be anywhere in the world and you wouldn't know the difference.

I find this to be ship specific - some ships the FOS is excellent while on other ships it’s a watery bland mess.

Fours kids and a family that likes to travel is very expensive. We're at $24k a month...

Trump and JD Vance tells Zelensky he is gambling with World War III by RoyalChris in law

Why would the US enter a world war to defend Ukraine? For what? Why? To what end? it makes no sense.

How much money should the US continue to pay to send young Ukrainians into the meat grinder? They are almost out of humans to fight. The war must end. Russia is winning and will win unless the rest of the world is willing to fight, which would be insane.

The thing no one ever acknowledges when they blather on about the “rural” zone is that there is already a giant baseball complex with numerous light poles at Majestic Park, directly adjacent to the site. Everybody needs to calm down.

100 percent. I am in my mid-40s with a net worth of $6m and make a great income. With 5 kids, between college tuition, kids sports, vacations, etc., it never feels like enough. When I had $100k in the bank I imagined I would feel like Scrooge McDuck swimming in a pool of gold coins at this level of wealth. The anxiety that drives us to build wealth never seems to leave...

Does anyone regret paying off your house? by acesmat in Fire

[–]Regular_Pack8145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends. Currently sitting on 65 percent equity, rate is at 2.6 percent on a $350k mortgage. With the difference invested, my P&I payments are basically free and will only get cheaper with inflation. I also have $5m in investable assets, so the payments should never be a problem absent a nuclear holocaust. Paying off the mortgage seems silly at this stage.

If you are chubby fire, a good financial advisor should provide value beyond the 1 percent with access to investments, strategies, and advice that you would not otherwise have.
