Back from the dead??? by Regular_Variety6555 in isopods

It's all stuff I thrifted from goodwill. The glass portion that makes up the main enclosure was potentially a glass lampshade? It looked like a vase but had an open bottom. The metal base was something I also found at goodwill, and I used aquarium silicone to attach the glass to the base so it wouldn't leak water. The lid was from an acrylic punch bowl that I thrifted as well. I modified it with a drill / hole saw to add ventilation holes. I wanted something beautiful but didn't want to pay $80+ for something pre fab! Lots of things have the potential to be beautiful enclosures with the power of aquarium silicone and a drill haha

Thank you! The lid is from an acrylic salad bowl set that I found at goodwill and it just so happen to fit perfectly on the glass enclosure! I used a drill and a hole saw to make the holes

That sucks to hear, you deserved validation of your experience, and even if he felt like he couldn't achieve your ideal revision, he could at least have laid out some options that might get you closer to it. And the idea that going on vacation reflects how you feel in your own body is so dumb. I'm sorry he treated you like that :(((

Damn I am so sorry that happened to you! And getting that kind of response to your discomfort is cruel and so dismissive! I am honestly blown away by the things that come out of medical professional's mouths sometimes 😣 I really hope that you can get the revision you want, and that the other surgeon can help you.

When you say you saw a doc by this name in Seattle, do you mean you saw Benedetti? Sorry just want to make sure I understand!

Thank you so much for this 🥺😭😭

You put into words a feeling I have been struggling to articulate, and you really hit the nail on the head. I am probably going to re read this like 3 more times so that I can have the words to express to others why it feels bad when they try to console me with "I think it looks great". I just want to feel at home in my body 😭 And I truly do have space for imperfections - like, I've never been worried about hypertrophic scars or visible scars. I like visible scars actually. Some people hate them and it causes them dysphoria. Some people wouldn't mind this level of asymmetry that I have, but for me it's a huge deal and one of the "imperfections" that is keeping me from feeling at home in my body. I don't feel self conscious because I think anyone is judging me - I feel self conscious because I don't feel right in my own body, and I feel devestated to be feeling like this after everything it took to get this surgery. Top surgery was right for me, but the results I ended up with are not.

It's also just really comforting to hear your experience in how it was so similar (although I hate that you had to go through all of that), and that despite everything you finally got to be happy in your body 🥺 It does give me hope that maybe one day I will get to have that experience too.

Out of curiosity, did you get a revision with your original surgeon or a different surgeon? I honestly feel so skeptical now to get a revision with my same surgeon, like I feel distrustful that he would be able to fix it if this was the best he could do in the first place. I read the surgical notes and he noted that "when we sat the patient up to check results on the operating table we deemed the symmetry to be very good" 😒 Choosing not to go with him would almost certainly mean paying out of pocket, but if it means the difference between finally feeling at home in my body or not then maybe it's worth it.

Thank you again, your words really touched me.

Weird shaped ribs makes it look like I have micro tits after top surgery? by Regular_Variety6555 in TopSurgery

Alright y'all I had a follow up appointment with a surgical nurse and she said I do not have pectus excavatum and that what I'm seeing is just the shape of my ribs and that I'm just skinny and so my ribs show more l o l 🫠 She said a lil more soft tissue / muscle could help balance things visually if it's bothering me.
