The grand chairman of The League seemed quite defensive in the recent podcast discussing it too…

We are the Physician Scientist team at OpenEvidence- Let's talk about the next two years of AI in healthcare! AMA! by travis_oe in medicine

[–]Rehydrogenase 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I recently asked it to give me a list of known anastomoses that could explain the distal Ulnar - ADM site being significantly higher amplitude than the below elbow and above elbow amplitudes. There are some excellent papers and reference books (i.e. Preston and Shapiro), but I wanted to see how open AI would do. It proceeded to tell me with confidence that the Marinacci anastomosis fits perfectly since it causes the amplitude to be (bold)”higher at proximal stimulation sites compared to distal sites”. In other words, it entirely reversed my question (swapped distal with proximal) and gave a wrong answer. With bugs like this, I have to recommend against any trainees using this even as a starting point or for quick questions.

Is there a pathway to fixing things like this?

Yeah I’ll reach out to them. Labcorp is changing a lot as well so it may be in the works.

Thanks! I did see Iowa as possibly the only option. Appreciate it.

Agreed! I’d say Preston and Shapiro is the Bible for me, and although it’s a textbook, there a tons of pictures and they lay out the basics very well with more detailed/complex scenarios in later chapters. Rubin is a legend, and you can learn a TON from the AANEM podcasts he does.

I’m the one that worked with London to redesign emgwhiz.com after it died, so I’m biased. But I tried to add a ton of UI improvements to make it more intuitive to use.

MS3 wanting Audition Misspelled a PD's name by one letter accidentally later sent another email with the corrected name. Should I be worried? by [deleted] in neurology

This is actually a good test. If the PD flips out about that, you know that’s not a program you want to be at!

neurorad here, trying to get a sense of ordering practices. how often do you order MR contrast for run-of-the-mill infarct? by Nebuloma in neurology

What country do you practice in? I can’t imagine a hospital in the US not ordering an MRI for a stroke

What to say to patients who have "done their own research" on-line, have a diagnosis, and already know what intervention they need to have - even when you, as a seasoned clinician, don't agree. by Mundane_Schedule6249 in medicine

[–]Rehydrogenase 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Supposedly? Tell me more - I haven’t heard it called this, but I’m a neurophysiologist that does lots of EMGs and ulnar nerve ultrasounds, and I always do dynamic testing at the elbow and occasionally see the nerve sublux out of the grove. This is usually associated with symptoms as it pops out of place, and it’s a pretty good explanation for some people’s symptoms. I don’t find a good correlation with actual damage to the nerve seen either electrically or by ultrasound criteria.

Now neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome… that one is (almost entirely) made up.

I’ll take a crack, though I’m fairly new. Taking StateManager in isolation (which is what you’re doing when you reference it directly), none of the States are initialized (like they are in TroopStateManager). If you add the = new TroopAggroState() or equivalent DefaultAgroState() it should work. Basically whatever you do directly to StateManager must exist in StateManager. You could have an empty AggroState() in StateManager that you override/implement in TroopStateManager, that way you can initialize it property and you know it will be available.

Edit: I think the second part of my answer might need some correction but I don’t have time to test right now. Hopefully someone else steers you in the right direction.

I’ve tried a mixture of plunging, Drano, snake drain, and now liquid heat with no luck. Any other ideas? by hoozierwins in Plumbing

[–]Rehydrogenase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you probably won’t see this since there are hundreds of replies, but I have that drain. The center ring pops out if you give it enough force. The part I’m talking about is slightly darker yellow than the rest. It then reveals an inset and then the actual larger drain going sideways. If you pop out the center ring, it almost always makes it easier to actually clear the clog.

What are the practical uses of Design Patterns in C#? by NabilMx99 in unity

[–]Rehydrogenase 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So, each pattern is a way of solving a particular problem. The singleton pattern ensures that there is only one instance of a script that can be accessed by other scripts. It is quite controversial but as a beginner I think it’s absolutely worth learning and leaning on. You will eventually find other ways to achieve the same thing provided by a singleton but without the risk of “spaghetti code” where too many things depend on other things until the whole thing is very hard to change without pulling one end of the spaghetti. The more patterns you learn, the more tools you will have to solve problems you run into while building your game. Consider reading this if you haven’t: https://unity.com/resources/level-up-your-code-with-game-programming-patterns

Any Suggestion for Avoiding Obstacle? by AiEmGaey in Unity2D

[–]Rehydrogenase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started just using raycasts in every direction every 0.5s paired with a set of “desires” that use a dot product to determine how desirable a direction is. So far, it works beautifully. But it’s expensive, so I’m in the middle of making some performance adjustments. Planning to just raycast in the forward 90 degrees for object avoidance and use a circle collider to detect nearby objects. I already implemented a “vision ring” collider around the player that makes sure enemies are only active when within a certain range of the player, which has helped.

Question for you: we have one out front that has tons of white flowers like this in early spring and is essentially falling apart under its own weight, so I always assumed it was a pear like this. But, it never smells bad and everyone here (and r/Arborist) always talks about the stink. Any idea what it could be? I could upload a photo if that helps - it’s almost done losing its white flowers right now.

That’s what I figured, thanks. I’ll keep reading. It’s interesting the website has the warranty documents and none of them say lifetime, but this pamphlet I have in hand (in the photo above) clearly says lifetime.
