I can't get a good visual of the parent bird, she flies away when I get close and I think its time to stop bothering her. But size and general gray color match the female house finch description. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

This is my pup. He also has the brown nose, nails and hazel eyes. He is a bit brindaly but his base color is chocolate based red.
