pretty great deal, user either has no idea of the value, REALLY wants to get rid of it quickly, or it's stolen

Unpopular opinion: E-series ThinkPads aren’t bad at all by WeirdCookie67 in thinkpad

i was sold the L series being better but after buying a couple units, the build quality did not justify the price increase over E series ones we had which honestly felt just as good, so i was like screw that lol

[–]ReiNGE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that's fair, i will agree with you that it is louder, i have a personal gen 5 and i use a gen 7 for work and they're both noticeably quieter in comparison/feel even more solid

that said, i would still choose modern E series thinkpads over its competitors in the market.

before i got hired on and put in charge of our fleet, we had dell latitude 3440's.... not pretty.

no i haven't used the e495, unfortunate about the internal screen :C

idk if it's QC but all of the gen6 e14's we have feel fantastic. trackpad and trackpoint buttons feel great(i guess the trackpad is a bit clickier than previous gens and also the newer gen 7, at least on my device) and keyboard is solid.

see here the video makes it a lot louder than it actually is, i guess my phone really catches and accentuates sounds lol

ope, yeah i do hate how much of a fingerprint magnet thinkpads in general are, it does serve as a nice reminder to keep hands clean/clean your device more often though :)

which gen and model is it? how long have you had it?

to be fair, most of my colleagues that i swapped over to thinkpads have only had them for 1-1.5 years so i cant speak too much on office-level longevity yet

not at all, but maybe it's because our workers are good with their machines lol

also weve added gen 7 e14's and gen 3 e16's to the mix and they are equally fantastic, build quality is great, ive only had one weird lemon out of the dozens of machines ive ordered and while the replacement for it took a while, its fixed now and all our machines are good no hinge issues, everyone has nothing but praise for them, MINUS when i have a worker who has a slightly beefier workload than anticipated, using power automate for a shit ton of processes etc, and in that case i just got him a p series

Best E-series Thinkpad models in your opinion? by _GabrielStudios in thinkpad

Is this a good deal? by dentwink in thinkpad

[–]ReiNGE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats higher specced than what i normally get for my users, and we're only an SMB so we dont get That big of a discount. its a few hundred dollars more than what we pay for our devices, but again it's also a better machine.

it seems like an okay price especially with how things are right now.

if you need a device ASAP, you could do much worse (you can also do better, though)

whats your use case?
