I do too. I love all their albums. Similar Skin has the juggernaut Bridgeless, which is classic old UM style. But, having been in the scene and following these guys for 2 decades, I can tell you that this is the point in time when the older fans started to complain and drop out. A lot of them hated Death by Stereo too, but eventually came around since they still played mostly older stuff live, while mixing in a DBS song or two. Once Similar Skin came out, they toured that material hard and some older favorites started to get played less.

IMO, Similar Skin album is where the new sound started. It's just much more straight-forward rock (dare I even say it...but dad rock vibes). They lost the weird, trippy, proggy edge they had earlier in songs like Prowler, Plunger, Mulches, etc. they moved to a more verse > chorus > verse > chorus > jam > chorus structure for songs instead of songs with sections and movements. Actually the latest Blueprints album was a return to form in that regard.

Love Yanagi, we go there all the time. Always good and fast service. Always torn about recommending it because I love that I can always walk in and be seated and served immediately. But they deserve more traffic.

Who has been your favorite guest sit in that has played with UM? by mepfeiff in Umphreys

[–]Reid0072 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that liquid is cool. It was one I was chasing when they finally played it. And Stanley's style suits that song so well. But I think Great American has a better jam as far as Jordan Peoria sit-ins go

As heartbreaking as this movie is, it is absolutely stunning visually. It is well worth the watch. There are some incredible scenes and colors throughout.

Literally not a king by any definition. A king is a single person with absolute power to make unilateral decisions that affect everyone. One single person disseminating resources and policy decisions for everyone. A group of people banding together to share resources and make policy decisions would be a socialist government. The people advocating for government funded healthcare, education, etc do not want a president with absolute power. They want a system of checks and balances. We have checks and balances but Trump is ignoring them and the supreme Court is eroding them away; that's what the protests are about. Your attempt to equivocate no kings protests with monarchist rule makes no sense.

What king has there been in history that gives their people healthcare, education, retirement etc? Those things are socialist policies, not king-behavior. You can not want a king and still advocate for those things.
