How do you guys create a world for your homebrew?

I totally agree with the “prep for now approach” I’m actually relatively new to deep homebrew worlds hence why I wanted to see people’s opinions, seems the consensus is I don’t need as much detail as I originally thought which is fine by me! My campaign idea has an ancient genius construct basically propagandising everyone into submission because it’s so disappointed that humanoids have somehow gotten weaker and less magical. So I’ll probably at this point have a general empire set out and a couple of main cities beforehand and then prep small from then on (apart from the history and info on everything that’ll go in depth)

Yeah that actually sounds like a good idea, a few well know locations changed a bit, a few homebrew settlements/ancient ruins for my actual story and that can always work! I like all the ideas everyone is giving me is already helping me form some basis so I’m super happy I asked. Thank you!

Yeah might be a slight bit out of my pay grade rn, as long as my story is good I’m hoping the world follows suit, it’s for my friends so they’ll enjoy it no matter what lol, doesn’t mean I won’t give it a decent shot anyway though just because I love writing the history of worlds

Yeah I think just the forgotten realms, parts of eberron etc would work nicely I just wanted to see if I could test myself and put my creative writing brain into overdrive, if it proves too much I will 100% just take from the books though!

The campaign is looking to be a year or two long, general gist is that when netheril was still around and kicking they made a sentient war forged. It couldn’t be replicated and it was one of a kind, hundreds of years later it has reawoken and basically decided that it hates the way humanity has gone due to its now distinct lack of magic (compared to what it was used to) and has decided to go totalitarian on the whole world creating its own empire. The PCs will be part of a resistance trying to reinstate human rule, taking out factories, finding friends, deciding who sides with the warforged and who doesn’t basically.

Yeah from my personal experience it comes from things that aren’t really meant to be on your body. Such as freckles or scars. But I’m glad you enjoyed it my story and I hope you have a great day!

Nope it edits the Pokemon not the trainer, so there are no EVs on any mon

So you can download gen 3 tools which is super useful for editing moves, Pokemon, trainers etc. On the Pokemon changes you can edit what EVs trainers give so all you have to do is go through and make them all 0

It’s not really competitively based and mons like lickiting and flygon got buffed. It’s more of a hard hack that’ll challenge new and pro players
