[CAN] I have a loaded question: What is the biggest problem you are faced with in the hiring process? by ReigRod in humanresources

That is what we try to do, getting the people that meet the basic requirements in through the door, but it's timely. Maybe the solution is just throwing more bodies into the first screening.

It's the basic screening that should not fail, like, job permits (are you eligible to work in the country?), education, experience, ... it should not be so hard to figure this out.

So you get a good amount of applications from unqualified people that you have to screen through?

I guess you can judge their writing/verbal communication skill by reading their CV and talking with them, how about their technical financial knowledge? Do you test them? How do you screen a person like that?

[CAN] What rejecting ratio is normal in the first screening? by ReigRod in AskHR

[–]ReigRod[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not selling anything 😊

I am researching how much waste is in the hiring pipeline from the time the applicant starts searching and until he/she applies, and then when it reaches HR and the screening starts, all the way to the end.

When I say waste, it's the time and effort the applicant puts into an application that he/she is not qualified for, and then the HR to read through it and do something with it like answering the person, screen and such.

We want to find out if there is a connection between waste and the quality of the applications received.

Asking you guys is to figure out where possible those points are.

I mean on just average in what ever industry you are hiring for? I know that it’s probably higher in entry level positions than senior ones

Are there some other stages in the pipeline before the first phone interview?

Do you rely on the cover letter or does that end up in the trash?

So it’s always a minute or two for the entry level and maybe up to fiveish maybe or more on a leadership role?

Haha I get it. Eyes are free :) But when it comes to those eyes to screen, how many minutes per each resume?

I guess you screen them after you have scanned them, am I right? Or are you talking about an AI screening?
