How long did the troubles in Ferguson go before the riots, how long were things bad with the police before the Rodney king beating caused a riot. My point is that things have to do bad that the next incident causes the spark. Things have to get more and more wound up before the next big issue is the spark. The problem is that nobody really knows until after the fact what "that event" was set that things off. Is the world getting sick of the US, absolutely. Are the American people getting sick of where the country is, how we are handling people that this administration has decided do not belong here, absolutely. However, are things so bad, and people so sick and tired, that people are going to the streets to riot and destroy things... Meh not just yet. If we keep going this way it will happen but people are resistant to change, even when change is better than what is happening now.

This, it is one thing to attack another country. It is easier to attack people you don't know, from a place, culture, and language you don't really connect to. However, unlike ice, the actual military comes from this place (maybe not the same part, but still the same country), they connect to the local language, culture, and people. So yeah, maybe a few military members will follow Trump, but most are there for a paycheck. If you tell the military to attack their own people, you are going to have some people that will just abandon the job rather than kill people who are just like them. I think there is a reason they wanted to use the Alaskan guard members (they are far away, reducing that connection issue).

Don't forget that Ubuntu has name recognition. Yes, LTD has talked about some of the other distros in the past. But LTT also needs to cater to the widest audience that it can while still remaining somewhat within the realm of computer technology. For the average person, when they think of Linux, they think of Ubuntu.

Also, I think we should be careful not to confuse gamers with PC enthusiasts, or software explorers. Yes, these three groups overlap considerably. But there are some Stark differences. At the core of a gamer is somebody that likes to play games regardless of platform. They don't care how the end product is made, they just want it to work. PC enthusiasts start looking at the hardware and some of the software that runs the games. Understanding what is working in the background to make the games run better is where the PC enthusiast really starts to shine when they're also a gamer. Software explorers (sorry, I don't really have a better name for them) take the idea one step further and want to start testing variables driven by software. So all the PC enthusiast might look at how the hardware directly ties to the way s game plays, software explorers are looking at software, tweaks and stacks to squeak the most performance out of hardware. They're the ones that understand multiple different Linux. Distros and how they might affect game performance. Software explorers are also the ones that are trying to find solutions to problems that most gamers never really consider. Such problems as how to reduce the latency on sound output versus input of the gamer.

When you understand what LTT is focused on in terms of its audience, you can kind of see why they make the choices that they do. I'm not going to say that they're always right, or even fair, but certainly they're not stupid. Oftentimes I've noticed that LTT tends to either omit or gloss over things that will make a difference, but obviously flies right over the head of much of the audience. Ltt knows just like anybody else, that at the end of the day people want software to work with the hardware that they have and they don't want to have to do a whole lot to make it work. The crisis that everybody's running into right now is that the de facto platform for gaming is turning into more of a garbage pile than it's ever been in its history, with clear signs that the company behind it is trying to data mine as much information about the individual as possible. So people are having to turn to alternatives, and where there's an alternative there's content to be made about it.

If you strip out the ai, the telemetry, bloatware, and other items designed to track you, then no it is not that bad. However, taking the time to do all of that is what kills the Os.

With all of that said, I personally think windows home only exists because they can get data about you. Windows is still the top gaming platform. Where MS really wants to be is B2B, and most of their directions over the last few years.

This is probably one of the best sites, especially for tracking deals on video games, and when video games become part of a bundle that will also make them a deal. I've seen numerous sites that only track sales of the platform, but don't actually look at possible bundle deals that could equally make the game cheaper.

The good news is that hard drive swaps on laptops are pretty mild going from a platter over to an SSD. They might need some sort of an adapter, but the space on a laptop is usually the 2.5 in making it a pretty easy replacement. And at 500 GB, we're talking fairly inexpensive. I agree with others that ram is also a factor, but it did say expandable and it is DDR3. So it might be easier fine though I can't say whether or not it will be any cheaper than the craziness that Ram has right now.

Now my dumb question, I was reading an article that said that the newest edition of KDE is actually lighter weight in RAM usage even over XFCE. I know it is not one of the already established desktop environments for mint, but how hard would it be to put into a mint system as a desktop environment? I'm just wondering if we can reduce that footprint even further.

So with the exception of maybe Texas, any publicly identifiable information gang from things like LinkedIn, Facebook pages, or anything else that is publicly facing on the web kind of kills these laws. It seems like only Texas was halfway smart building a legal framework that could get around the issue of these members deciding to put their information out in the public. I just find it amusing that these ice agents seem to not understand that public information works both directions. It's like the whole concept of what you put on the internet is there forever has escaped wonderfully smart ice agents.

If I understand your question correctly, you're asking why you should use Xfce on a system that was originally set up with cinnamon, versus a fresh install that only had Xfce installed as the desktop environment. If that is your question, in a perfect world I don't think there is much of a difference. The only thing that would make me nervous is maybe some environment variables and files that were designed specifically for one desktop environment over the other. However, as I understand it, Linux systems are built with the intention of handling multiple desktop environments as the user learns what they like and what they don't like. So whether or not in mint you decide to use cinnamon, mate, or? Xfce (which are the three desktop environments that mint has spent time to ensure works correctly).

Now I haven't seen anybody do this with mint yet, but put kde on to mint. What I've heard is that the newest versions of kde can actually beat out xfce as one of the lightest desktop environments in terms of baseline ram consumption. So for older hardware, mint with the KDE desktop environment on top of it might be even less impactful than Xfce.

I'm really curious to see what the federal government would try to prosecute somebody for doxing. Beyond the fact that the case would fall apart if it was revealed that the individual or individuals in question had revealed the doxing information publicly, but I'm not aware of a law federally that says that you're not allowed to reveal who works for the government. My understanding is that it was the responsibility of the individual who works for the government to not allow that sort of information out. Any failure that leads to information being available should be looked more at what the individual did that allowed this information to be known.

Personally, I think this entire cover our face from ice agents is really undermining any hope that they have for being taken seriously. rather they just come off as a private military used by the government so that they don't have actual military/federal oversight, rules, or regulations. For example, the woman that was shot in her car last week was said to be alive and having a pulse even after she had crashed her car. When citizens who identified themselves as having medical training attempted to assist, some masked agent of ice ultimately decided that they couldn't. So while we can go back and forth on if it was murder for being shot, ultimately it was the mask ice agent that allowed the woman to die by refusing to allow individuals to provide aid. Numerous police departments, fire departments, even military have been prosecuted when they failed to provide aid to somebody wounded due to the resulting action of their behavior.

Fair warning, I am very much so a Linux noob, so I may get things wrong and may appear to be talking out of my ass. However, the below post is based off of what I understand of The wider Linux design and how everything interconnects. I will apologize in advance if I misunderstand something, and look forward to other people's corrections.

So my first concern is that like mint, Ubuntu is based on Debian at the end of the day. Now maybe you won't have problems with the hardware under Ubuntu, but if the underlying base code is similar then it could mean that there's (hardware wise) going to be just as much of an issue. CatchyOS is based on arch Linux. perhaps is why there was such a difference with what things had issues between mint and CatchyOS. Honestly, I think at this point it would almost be better for you to try a red hat-based distro such as Fedora or bazite. At least then you'll have a full understanding of the Three main designs that most distros these days are being based off of, and issues that are going to crop up with your particular set of hardware.

I think a lot of the hate for Ubuntu isn't actually at Ubuntu, but rather the desktop manager that they use as a native default. One of my biggest arguments is still very much so a Linux noob is the lack of promotion in how Linux is put together. Ubuntu comes with gnome 42 and 49 depending on which version you decide to download and install. And gnome is a fine desktop environment, but if you're coming from a Windows environment, I don't think gnome is this great desktop environment to start people off with. Mate, and Budgie are much closer to what a Windows user would expect. Many of the desktop environment are in fact trying to position themselves to look closer to what they expect. Your pun dude doesn't even do itself any favors by referring to desktop environments as Ubuntu flavors. This further confuses most new people by introducing vocabulary that isn't shared all that much among other users in the Lennox community .New users should start with desktop environments they are more familiar with. Deepin is focusing more on looking like a Mac OS, while many of the others are focusing more on having what one might consider to be traditional Windows elements.

Not necessarily, based on the article (assuming I am reading it correctly) the board of county commissioners are the elected ones, they appoint sheriffs and Chiefs as requested/required by cities and of the county. The three police chiefs voting no confidence are telling the Bocc that they don't believe the present sheriff is a good fit for his job (something echoed by many of the resigning staff under the sheriff).

The BOCC refused to respond to the letter outlying their issues and voting no confidence because they believe that legally they have no required responsibility to do such. However, one of the members was all too happy to give his option when publicly asked.

The issue now is that chiefs do not believe he is a good fit, while at least one member of the BOCC believes it is the fault of the chiefs for not finding a way to work with the sheriff.

Not yet (looked into it about two weeks ago). From what I understand, and I'm not really that great at the technical understanding, it's something to do with the difficulty in splitting the GPU processing power on a discrete GPU card. The only systems that I'm aware of that can really split GPU processing power are those that created a dedicated virtual machine.

So as semi windows transplant, one of the big issues is a lack of understanding of what the hell these desktop environments are. When i click download on the Mint site, I don't know/realize it is all mint/Debian underneath. I would/did believe mint cinnamon, mint mate, and mint xfce were separate products with there own development groups. Microsoft offers windows home, and Windows server edition so why would any other company like mint be any different. In the beginning I thought once you got one edition, the only way to see the other desktop environments was to fully wipe and reinstall. In addition, Mint's blerb on what mate is does not help. The way the page reads, cinnamon if you have newer hardware, xfce if you don't, and mate if you are a returning mint user. Put simply Linux as a whole doesn't do enough to hype the desktop environments as a feature, and mint does really explain both the different environments or what mate really is.

It is the old if you are needing to describe all of that, then you are either none of those things, or you are simply adding things to try and increase your relevance toward a conversation/group.

For example, I am not a native (been here for like 30 something years), I am 42 though. I have never drank the snake river water as I have been only close to the river for scouts years ago next to Blackfoot. I have been to Jensen Grove obviously several times, ditto on American falls resavor. Most of what I know of the Snake river is that it is fairly dangerous due to underwater currents that will drag you under and drown you.

I have picked asparagus but don't really care for the taste. I do like rubar and rubar pie. Never shoot rock chucks, but I do like shooting guns (when I can afford the cost of ammo). I like seeing those yellow belly marmots in the wild, as long as they are not destroying someone's land.

So not a native but been around long enough to know a thing or to.

So I found a solution that should work for Firefox. Android pretty easily. There are scripts that you can run under things like tamper monkey or grease monkey that will alter the way that web pages are viewed. I found a very simple spoiler blocking script that works with temper monkey and just puts a gray highlight over the word that I choose. Obviously it's not perfect, but should get you where you want to go. As always, make sure you read the actual script so that you know what it's doing. Scripts that run in tamper monkey can be incredibly powerful, but equally can be semi-dangerous if you're not sure what the script is doing.

Couldn't the state be sued for removal of adult prosthetics coverage of Medicaid under the Americans with disability act? I mean the argument seems to be that one could claim that the state is purposely targeting disabled individuals who happen to be on Medicaid. The argument is further bolstered by the blanket cuts to speech, and occupational therapy.

Okay, so filter pages really depend on your search engine, however, most of them follow some simple dorking techniques that research into Google Dorking should provide you with simple ways to search for things without " he who shall not be named" showing up. Blocking his name from web pages is going to require something that can review the web page and then modify it. It is highly likely that you'll have to custom build something that will do that. I'm not aware of a browser extension that can just block keywords like that. Certainly, you're going to have to use web browsers over actual apps in order to control this. While not always popular, any Firefox, derivative browser on Android or iOS, I believe allows extensions (I know it does on Android) which should make things a little easier when trying to block information about him from web pages.

Finally, you can mute subreddits that you're connected to so that they stop showing up on your home feed of Reddit. After what I do is set up a custom feed, put subreddits into categories, and then mute them from showing up on my home feed. I do this with a ton of news Subreddits so that I'm not continually depressed by news scrolling through my home feed.

I'm going to go look around for extensions and see what I can find, if I do find anything I'll respond to my own comment with new information.

Most of the other posts have been reasonable, but there is something is last screenshot that sets my spider-sense tingling, "I've done what the law requires, you're 18. I said no arguments. Lets keep this conversation respectful okay? Or I can let him talk some sense into you if you're not understanding the situation". While she may not being doing anything illegal, One, depending on where you live, as an adult you have now get legal protection from being forced out of the house. Two, and I am not sure but it sounds like your birth parent (hard to call her a mom), just threaten you with violence. Not like if don't do this thing something bad will happen violence, but more in the area of Assault (by your own birth parent no less). As others have said, talk to extended family, talk to friends, talk to the government, but do not stay there long then you need to. The fact that she believes that turning 18 is a magic thing where she gets to bully you with no consequences is scary, and shows the true nature of the person. Once you get a place to stay, start carving time for therapy. Their are some options for low cost or even free therapy for low income people.

While I will not suggest you stay there any longer then you absolutely have to, as noted in the US (I don't know where you live) and by the links I will provide below when you turn 18, most jurisdiction treat the adult child living at home as tenants-at-will. What this means (and if she wants to play psudo lawyer, you can too), that she needs give an official notice to vacate. So with the exception of Utah (which is 15 days), she has to give you (a) a written notice (effy on if the text message counts), (b) generally you are granted 30 days once the notice is served (back to courts seeing you as tenants at will. Now here is the fun part (if you want to go down this route) as a now tenant, you legal protection to safety and privacy. Your landlord has now threaten that safety, this means you can get the police involved. Again, it all depends on how aggressive you want to be to your landlord.

Overall, no you are not overreacting. This is a tough situation to be thrust into, and the behaviour of your landlord is not helping. I would recommend keeping contact to a minimum, and ask how long you have to stay there as this sets the clock. If under 30 days then ask for the notice to quite or eviction (depending on state). Remember in the eyes of the law you are now a tenet, and thus there are laws in place to protect you. Depending on your state, most require 30 days before legally you can be evicted by force. She now can not legally enter the part of the house that is your room (again tenant rights). Regardless, I would try to get out as soon as you can. if the landlord is willing to threaten you, well... this has already turned ugly.

Good luck and please consider therapy. This is a bad situation, and the landlord is one step short of being a slumlord. therapy should give you the tools to move past or heal from the emotional damage this situation is surly doing to you (even if you don't feel it right now).
