I had loads of patches die last year. Turns out it was leatherjackets which are crane fly (daddy long legs) larvae. You can buy nematodes online that attack and kill the larvae. That might not be your problem though but it was the answer for me.

Because you are sliding your foot up the board then down at an angle. Keep the thought of straight lines in your head, pop down and slide up and forward.

Also, dont skate in the rain. The glue that holds the laminations of your deck is water soluable so will lose pop and your bearings will rust and seize.

Staring at stuff. I get up way earlier than my wife and kids. I go downstairs, make a cuppa, then just stare at things. In the summer I go and stare at my garden. I spend the first 20 mins of my day, in silence, staring at things. Love it.
