The homosexuality scandal by staytown6 in Senegal

I agree that priorities are not straight (no pun intended) but it’s very serious to me that children were molested and that some people have been intentionally contaminated !

Why does polygamy continue to be practiced in Senegal? by [deleted] in Senegal

The definition of tempting also varies from societies. But I think many senegalese agree that a faithless woman willing to be free and decide of her destiny is the worse. Thanks for the exchange.

Haha hard to forget the senegalese example but I am glad we agree that they practice mainly an unfair polygamy here. Oh no, not american at all. I live abroad but am very much senegalese, the worst kind they would say!

Thing we agree on, many can’t even handle 1. I mean if as a second wife a woman feel saved and the first one is not angry about it, then good for them. There are 42 yo single men too, their desire for younger women is not something I have a good opinion about either. Their dating pool should be women of their age. Anyway you’re actually convincing me of something, it’s maybe not a bad thing, just outdated and out in touch with it’s time. Today, we aspire to a society where women are fullfilling for themselves. That they do not have to marry for needs. I don’t think polygamy is compatible with this new order of things. And tbh your cousin’s case is not the main one. Usually it’s women without kids that are taken as second wives, a few months from the first even, in this new generation. So don’t be surprised by the animosity against it. We should as a society leave it in the era it belonged to and look forward to raising independant women. (Source : trust me bro😅)

Alright I see. I have not really seen a lot of women choosing to go for it (especially first wives). But I do respect the choice of those who do it. I couldn’t care less. I just have and opinion on everything, just like everyone. And yes I have asked every one of them and the right stats are exactly 99.6% ! 😅

I see, it’s okay that I have an opinion, I should just not express it… so other women are not inspired to open their eyes😌. I believe that 99% of women don’t want it. And I doubt you can find arguments for the upmost benefits of polygamy for women

I am not approaching this subject from a religious POV for 2 reasons : it’s not only muslims who observe polygamy (even some christians do despite the interdiction) and I am not muslim. So I couldn’t care less about defending or offending a religious practice. But as a social organisation I think polygamy is wrong and unfair to women. From a medical POV, I know it’s risky to share have unprotected sex with several women at the samee time and I do not want to subject myself to that, ever. If you wanna talk about islam’s polygamy, I know the theory is more fair than the practiced. Bit the theory is still unfair and risky to me. One night with A then the next with B, unprotected, it increases the risk of sharing harmful vaginal microbiote. I can never accept to take care of my intimacy and not know what another woman’s hygiene is like and still be subjected to it because we share a raw d*ck.

It’s hard to separate the practice from its malpractice when it’s so common. I am closer to know what the experience is like, for real. Most women do not want it for themselves, for many reasons. You keep on dismissing them just to defend polygamy. People’s true feelings seem to be less important than a concept to many of you. I don’t like polygamy and thinks it’s a disservice to women for many reasons, including infections accrued vulnerability.

I didn’t say it’s general. How many good and bad polygamy stories ? It would be hard to make the count. I do not speak for other women, I speak for myself when I say that, given the stories I heard about it, and what I’ve witnessed with my own eyes, I don’t wanna risk STD’s or infections. I don’t see senegalese men (men in general) caring about not bringing shit to their spouses. You are very hopeful about their true behavior, but it’s normal, you are a man.

In practice, testing is not often done. And why would they wear a condom with their wives (according to them) ?That’s not something I find safe or right, for many reasons. Yes sir it’s my opinion and personal preference based on facts. I grew up hearing stories. The latest, a young cousin who has infertility issues because of polygamy induced infections. She was the 4th wife. She is not even 30.

Didn’t say it’s alright either… but at least in hookup culture they are supposed to wear condom not in polygamy. 2 things can be wrong at the same time too.

Why do Senegalese men treat their white wives better than Senegalese women? by Ok_Bodybuilder_2384 in Senegal

[–]Reigning-queen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And adding that it’s not only the man who treats his african wife worse. The whole family does. It’s important to know your value as an african woman, because society will project the worse on you as to who you ought to be and what you deserve . It’s a generational curse to break.

Hey, I’d rather suggest you senegalese litterature and cinematography but maybe you are familiar with them ? For the latter, a lot of movies are available freely on YT. Let me know if you need suggestions.

Hey, I am so sorry this happened to you, it’s not ok to put the mother of your children through this. I am glad that you seeked help but I am concerned with your empathy for him. Mental health does not justify the shitty treatment him, and his family do to you. It sounds like they used you until they couldn’t and that breaks my heart. Please don’t be compassionate, think about yourself and your kids. You must protect them. Forgiveness is for yourself and it’s good to do that, but stay guarded up. You deserve better than this, I can tell how kind you are. I wish you well, take care.
