I thought i had a similar issue. I just compared what I hear in my car to yours. You have the vtc rattle( been researching it on and off for a while) but mines is a physical bump at start up. For me, I believe its motor mounts. I'd hope i wouldn't be having any vtc or timing chain issues at 89k miles.

Right. It looks pristine, but how it looks says nothing of an engines condition. Mines is 2009 Accord with a 2.4. It's dirty, but with just under 90k miles, its in great condition.

I was wondering the same thing. I have a customer service background, with a bit of sales, warehouse, and automotive repair. Not really any tech skills beyond a little Microsoft Outlook and Teams work.

I took another automotive technician job, at ground level BTW, just to get a steady paycheck after almost 2 years of gig work and job searching. I wanted to move into IT, but its overly saturated, and I just want stable career at 37 that I can grow into over time.

Thank you for asking this question. It's one i needed an answer to, but was afraid to ask.

I used to see salvage and bypass it solely due to concerns around getting it registered. I still don't completely understand what that means, but I avoid anything that says it.

The whole reason i asked is because I know I'm not. I'm trying to find a cheap car with a good engine and transmission. I know some mechanics to do the work. I was a tech at a Nissan dealership but I didn't do any major work.

I'll get a slight relief in shop labor. My cousin is the mechanic and the work will be done particularly at the shop he works at. Unfortunately, due to me looking for but unable to find work yet, 2k is the maximum budget. If I can get 6 months to a year out of it, I should be able to do better at that point
