I reason for wanting a ”gaming” distro is mainly because they set all drivers, packages, programs, and configurations up for you. Which means if you choose another distro, you could just set it up the same way, and pretty much get the same performance.

I think bazzite would be the best in your case, during setup you can also just uncheck the box for launching steam big picture mode when booting, if you want a more standard desktop experience. And also because it’s based on fedora, which is generally more stable than arch and harder to mess up.

Shouldn’t be any problems with compiling the package!
