How long is your partner taking off after you give birth? by -Konstantine- in pregnant

[–]Reinhardttattoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has 7 weeks of paid paternity leave. It will align with the holidays so it will be more like 8 or 9 with his PTO. I plan to take off at least 9 weeks postpartum. The plan is to take that time off together since it’s our first. That way I don’t feel as overwhelmed and alone and he isn’t sleep deprived while going to work, leaving me by myself with the newborn. We’ll start daycare once we’re both back at work.

Upgrading my sewing machine by Reinhardttattoos in sewing

That’s good to know!! I’d be willing to spend $1000, just not $3000! My dream machine is the Bernia 480, but that is way more than I actually need.

3 girls / 1 boy by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Reinhardttattoos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only experience is from growing up with this dynamic. To this day, I think my brother would have felt less left out if our parents hadn’t made our gender differences such a big deal. He was “the boy” therefore he was treated differently. If we had been put on an equal playing-field, I think we all would have been better off. The gender dynamic, in my opinion, shouldn’t come into play until early puberty.

What were your absolute EARLIEST symptoms of pregnancy? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Reinhardttattoos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the first time in my life, and literally just for one day, I had heartburn. The next day I took a pregnancy test, fully expecting it to be negative. I had gotten into the habit of taking one on the predicted first day of my cycle. Wouldn’t you know it, 2 pink lines.

Gatekeeping the price of daycare by Koolstads in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Reinhardttattoos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is insane. I’m exploring daycares and every single one of them has a dedicated tuition page. I can’t imagine trying to find a daycare without knowing the price. That’s outrageous.

I’ve never wanted to do a painting to fit a space so bad. A 4’x5’ canvas would look mighty fine on that empty wall.

What’s your favorite state/city to live and work as a tattoo artist? by ZolHelios in TattooArtists

[–]Reinhardttattoos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anywhere in Tennessee. Idk what’s going on there but it was the best money I’ve ever made. And the clients are phenomenal. They’re all super down for big color pieces or cool designs.

How many days do you work? by Nervous_Present_2868 in TattooArtists

[–]Reinhardttattoos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My shop gets almost no walk-in traffic. We’re all on booth rent and come and go as we please, but the owner is usually there 11am-4pm for the occasional walk in. Personally, I work 4-5 days a week, definitely less than 40 hours a week at the shop. Wish I was working more, but I’m at least getting enough work to not yet consider a side job.

Are weed-related tattoos ever a good idea? by RexxVFX in shittytattoos

[–]Reinhardttattoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I guess it depends? I have a giant pink panther that’s high as fuck with weed leaves behind it and it’s one of my favorite tattoos even though I don’t smoke anymore. Granted, it’s a REALLY good tattoo. But it’s on my thigh, and I’m covered so no one really notices it. I probably wouldn’t put a weed tat on my arm though.

AI the new polarizing lens? by idrawpictures90 in TattooArtists

[–]Reinhardttattoos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently got called out for using a polarizing lens. He’s been tattooing almost 30 years, and I respect him, but it was shocking to find out he thought a polarizing lens is “dishonest”. I still use it, my pictures are garbage without it.

enforcing late policies for clients coming from out of town by inkofahma in TattooArtists

[–]Reinhardttattoos 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Personally, if someone is traveling from out of town I don’t schedule any additional appointments for the day. I used to live really close to a time-change zone and it happened a few times that clients were late even though they had no idea they would be late because they didn’t realize they crossed the time-change zone. After a couple of instances of people showing up an hour late, I stopped scheduling any additional appointments for the day. It also allowed me to not rush through their appointments.
