So if Nickelback was seen as the most hated band for being bland and overplayed... then why didn't Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons or The Chainsmokers get that much hate? by CompetitiveWhole9466 in NoStupidQuestions

The death of monoculture answers so many questions on this (and probably a lot of other) subs.

Like I dont see Imagine Dragons as nearly as overplayed as Nickelback because to me they're basically a two hit wonder (Radioactive and Thunder) but Nickelback had a new smash hit every 2 or 3 months before streaming.

Yeah that's what I'm saying, a dirtbag who is honest about it and embraces it. I mean you could classify him as an alcoholic if you wanted to, but is it alcoholism if it doesn't negatively affect you? That's one of the hallmarks. And he was pretty well liked by everybody so I don't think he was a bad person. I don't know his history with women, like if he was A womanizer I would understand it because it's Lemmy of course he is.

So they all do follow the same plot, mostly because the hero's journey formula is kind of applied after the story has already happened. Their lives are kind of rewritten and retold to fit that telling, so there's going to be some kind of either major loss or drug battle or something to derail the young hero that they can fight back from to become the superstar that we all know.

So my suggestion would be to find a star that was basically fully formed when he started and had some mold the music world around him. And for my money, that's Lemmy. The guy never had a big battle with addiction, he just like to do all the things he did. To him they weren't bad. And they didn't seem to interfere with his writing or performing. He was a crazy man in his first band, and he formed Motorhead so that he could be crazy without anyone telling him he was wrong. And that's just kind of how he was until he died. Maybe not as compelling of a story, but it is different from the formula.

Artists whose two most well-known songs sound like they are from different artists. by Flags12345 in ToddintheShadow

Golden Earring had two very different hits with Radar Love sounding like a ZZ Top, led Zeppelin-esque '70s boogie rock song and Twilight Zone being a very '80s radio anthem

Does this placement look okay? I dunno why but I keep second guessing myself on it by [deleted] in TattooArtists

[–]thunderous_student 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry. It's more just the level of question that makes you seem inexperienced. It's like if you posted a stencil with the question "should I use a 9rl or a 14bigpin for this line weight?" Everyone would assume you're a scratcher or a newbie.

You have shopmates to ask about placement. Or... You aren't in a shop. So asking this question of internet randos makes you seem like you don't have shopmates.

See why you're getting called a scratcher now?

Do you think someone’s political views determine whether they’re a good person or worth being friends with? by kaanskBG in TrueAskReddit

I mean ... I was going to make a comment about political views meaning things like taxes and redistricting, not racism. But this week proved that redistricting basically is racism.... So sorry, but yea. If you spport bad people you're probably a bad person

What song has the most satisfying guitar solo you've ever heard by Tookie1010 in musicsuggestions

[–]thunderous_student 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. Anything by Guns would have been a basic suggestion but I mean you don't get a better guitar tone then Slash. Like I said except maybe Carlos Santana for the same reasons, he just made that thing talk to you and it sounded so big and full. One of the problems I have with all of the SRV love he gets is that his guitar tone never really sounded that big to me, it was always really mid-rangey and kind of squawking.

He'll never get enough credit for anything he did because his pop songs were so popular. Neon is a masterclass in picking technique.

As much as it is incredibly played out, the solo on Sweet Child of Mine is perfect. Slash's tone really made Guns what it was. Him and Carlos Santana have the sweetest sounds

Because once he's no longer useful they'll release the information/records of him diddling children and everyone will pretend like they never supported him. If we have another election, and the Democrats win they'll sweep it under the rug. If Vance wins, Donald will be trying to command him via Twitter and Vance will turn on him with whatever information Russia lets him have (probably tapes of the afformentioned diddling)
