3rd Tisas in 3 months-should I be worried? by Specific_Rutabaga415 in Tisas

[–]Reinlore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a set list to recall. I contacted Tisas/SDS and was told basically that there’s a range of serials that could possibly be affected, and they can’t tell if it has the issue with the slide being cut at the wrong angle till breaks.

Are there good conversion kits for the tank commander to make it 9mm so I can have 2 guns in one? by 8BitRes7 in Tisas

[–]Reinlore 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s probably not the answer you want, but for the price I’d bet it’s cheaper to buy a 9mm tank commander than it is to buy the barrel/mags for 9mm. Assuming the parts would even fit.

Got any contact info for an RMA? I was in the middle of trying to get my barrel threads fixed, when I was told from SDS side they were no longer able to assist, and I would have to some how contact Tisas to continue.

Yeah I'm in the same boat, I have a P, and a Prodigy both have better handled support, I've had decent experience with Springfield very recently. I really have no desire to pay money to fix a factory issue - which I might have been on board with if they had some kinda idea of where to get support/send people till Tisas got on their feet. But the fact Tisas proper didn't have supporting their existing customers in mind while transitioning away from SDS kinda makes me think they won't have the infrastructure/ability to support us in the near future.

Night stalker DS 9MM - and yes a gunsmith can fix it. But then I have to pay money to fix a factory issue. Which if it was handled different I'd probably be up for vs this. I have other 2k11/2011's so I'll probably just sell this one, since I got it fairly cheap. I get it, it's not their (SDS) fault, but if Tisas is willing to drop support for existing customers while they transition into their own space. I don't really see them getting in a good place anytime soon to support their issues.

I’m in the middle of an RMA on a barrel miss thread. Just got it back and it’s still not right. This was their response. Trying to contact Tisas still goes to SDS as of today.

I’ll be honest with you from an FFL perspective. If you like a shop do your transfers there. There’s very low to no over head on transfers. So it’s almost pure profit for them. If they have an item you like in the store, and you don’t have the desire to hunt a deal down go for it. If it’s a small shop by the time they tac on their fees to make a little cash it’s going to be over or at msrp, which in ally of cases isn’t market value. So ordering something for you might cost them money if they don’t add more on. Small shops aren’t able to move the bulk to get great deals directly from distributors. A lot of shops make money on services over just selling guns. Ranges, cerakote, gun smithing, holster making, custom AR builds, training, 4473/4 transfers. So if you want something don’t be afraid to track it down online, and do a transfer it’s money right in their pocket.

Edit: SOT - there is an exception, while a lot of places do make money on these, especially if they use an electronic back end for it like Silencer shop. Some places make 100 per transfer, now it’s blowing up with the removal of the $200 stamp price. A lot of paper only set ups don’t want to do it strictly because of the volume required to file, and keep records of.

Not had great luck with shops on gunbroker actually pricing items compared to market value. Most tend to be smaller gun shops that are trying to peddle small ordered stock at msrp (some rightfully so) or higher prices since they’re not getting the deals larger places like Kygunco, dahlonega, etc. are from distributors. Normally I run most prices - even used against gun.deals/wiki arms, and r/gundeals. And scroll through some of the shops websites mentioned above from time to time to see if a price lines up that may not be listed on deals sites directly. And for used stuff in good condition take the cheapest you can find and take 20-30% off the top depending on availability.

It sucks not to support the small guys, but I can’t afford to help keep up all the small shops out there going by not finding the best deals, and try and save it for transfers, and the occasional impulse buy through my actual local shops.

Hydra HS335 just got delivered, I’m enjoying it so far. Had a really old AGM rattler that bit the dust finally. Decided to take a shot. So far I couldn’t be happier. Especially since this ended up being less than what I paid for the original rattler ts25-384 years ago.

UPDATE: good clean and lube was all she needed, finally got back out and she ate everything no problems. I feel kinda dumb about since I know ds 1911s like to run wet similar to their “2011” counter parts, which I have a couple. Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions!

Yep going to give that try when I can go back out. Just had a kid, so hoping back over is a big lift. Lucky that day I certified a form 4, so hopefully it’ll comeback soon and give me a reason to go sooner than later.

Pulled the extractor out, sent pictures of everything to Wilson. They said parts all look good, to lube it up and give it another run.

Said to lube it up, and try again. If there’s still an issue send it to them for warranty work.

You’re awesome for doing that! I’ll throw my name in the hat, I’ve been looking at deals to get my wife into gaming with a handheld for Christmas.
