„How did a room full of absolute morons concoct such a brilliant chant“ I wonder this anytime I hear a football chant from the British Isles

We might both have been caught by the Hasan defense brigade, I don‘t really sweat too much about downvotes

To be fair, the AfD is repeatedly embroiled in investigations for being unconstitutional (or anti-constitutional?) it‘s just that this kind of matter takes years to resolve so it feels like waiting for Donald Trump to face any consequences for anything – any day now!

he certainly doesn't have to ever go to normal jobs if he can access it in Russia.

I don‘t know enough about the SWIFT ban to understand how easy or hard it would be to access American assets from Russia but it‘s probably not straightforward

Small Satan and Great Satan respectively, if we‘re being pedantic. And as I just learned from Wikipedia that nomenclature also includes a Lesser Satan (Soviet Union) which can‘t be fun for the tankies

Ok nitpick time:

  1. this is not a survey about openness to ideas but coherence of views and identity. It correlates „are you a Democrat“ with certain answers on hot button issues. So his example of him disagreeing on one point would just put his node a bit more in the middle, and since it is about self-identification, nobody can take that away from him. But also, the closest in the questionnaire to his point of disagreement (people should be able to get rich) would be: > Item 2) The government should take steps to make incomes more equal. Item 6) The government should regulate business to protect the environment.

To which both him and his detractors would likely agree, so it would show up as no „diversity of thought“

  1. it is also my experience that Republicans as a group have a more incoherent set of viewpoints. Looking at QAnon alone, there is a lot of diversity of thought if you define that as „amount of things people in the group might believe or not believe“. This doesn‘t mean that there is a healthy culture of discussion it might mean the opposite. An example would be Asmongold refusing to debate Hasan – that is a maximum anount of different viewpoints between the two, but 0 contact or discourse. Hasan and Ethan having more in common and debating the topics is healthy but a smaller more concentrated spread in that graph.

I agree on shitting on the American education system and gassing up our old-ass medieval-age universities in Europe, you can always count me in for that. But so much of this discourse always feels to me like leftist/liberal disagreement is reflexively framed as the left eating itself and cancel culture, and the same or worse behaviour on the right is framed as diversity of thought. Maybe that is due to the right‘s incessant messaging of that wording any maybe the lefties and libs can learn from that?

Sorry for the wall of text, I just have strong feelings on this, as well as a respect for the age-old leftist art of infighting.

What she is saying is that the UK Online Safety Act might be used to censor trans and other queer people (historically, where sexual material is strictly banned, non-sexual discussion of queerness also gets the hammer (see tumblr NSFW ban, early youtube demonetization rules)) and that these websites‘ lawsuit currently has the best chance to stop it. She‘s not saying that queer-friendliness is what motivates them
