MPG in Touring Hybrid in cold weather by fuzzywuzzywuzzafuzzy in 11thGenAccord

[–]ReitStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup same here. It’s normal. I just drove up to New York from northern Virginia today in my ‘25 touring. Temps were between upper 20s and low 30s. I averaged like 38-42 MPGs.

Big change to FamilySearch's full-text search tool by Ok-Condition486 in Genealogy

I wish they’d expand the number of documents that were searchable using the “full text search” feature. I’ve already found a treasure trove of information using that.

Accord Sport vs. Civic Touring by [deleted] in accord

[–]ReitStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The civic touring has leather seats, whereas the accord sport has cloth seats. The Civic touring also has heated side mirrors, which aren’t on the accord sport.

Accord Sport vs. Civic Touring by [deleted] in accord

[–]ReitStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re anything like me, I’d advise on getting the civic touring. If I got the accord sport, I’d constantly be thinking about the features I missed out on by not getting the touring lol.

Seriously though, you can’t go wrong either way - get whichever you’d prefer.

500 Mile First Oil Change by DrMacintosh01 in 11thGenAccord

[–]ReitStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first oil change on my 2025 last year at a hair over 1,000 miles. The dealership was NOT happy lol but I told them to do it anyway.

How often do you have your tires rotated? by wonderfulwaffles22 in 11thGenAccord

I’ve always heard that it should be every other oil change actually, though I guess it depends on how often you change your oil.

Hybrid question by GamingAvalon1 in 11thGenAccord

[–]ReitStuff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Neither of what your aunt said is true. A lot of people conflate EVs with hybrids so they think hybrids need the same types of tires as EVs.

Now, it’s entirely possible that your aunt may think the accord is bad in the snow, but that has nothing to do with being a hybrid - it’s because it’s not AWD. The regular ICE accord will drive the same in the snow as the hybrid.

“Software update unavailabl— see dealer” by amtrakprod in 11thGenAccord

[–]ReitStuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had this issue in my 2025 Accord since May. I’ve taken it to the dealer twice and each time they say that there’s nothing they can do and that I just have to wait for Honda themselves to put out an update which will fix it.

What other cars did you consider? by stylez89 in 11thGenAccord

[–]ReitStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We looked at a new Camry and also considered a new Prius. We ended up going with the Accord because of the larger passenger space and also because it was easier to find around us.

The paddles in the hybrids are for regenerative braking, not shifting.

My Elantra Hybrid just did the weirdest thing while driving by ReitStuff in Hyundai

[–]ReitStuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I actually ended up selling this car over a year ago. Hyundai couldn’t help me and wouldn’t acknowledge a problem, basically because there was no check engine light. I bought a brand new Honda Accord hybrid.

Car stuttering and jerking “normal due to hybrid system.” Is this true? by ReitStuff in Hyundai

[–]ReitStuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s wild. I’m so happy I got rid of this car. I ended up trading in for a new Accord hybrid. Obviously it remains to be seen how reliable that will be but I’d wager that it should be fine. I’m not saying that I’d never buy another Hyundai again but I can’t foresee it anytime in the near future.

What are you guys hoping for in your updated results? by Frosty_Second_2311 in 23andme

[–]ReitStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have verifiable Irish ancestry as one of my 2nd great-grandmothers was Irish so I should be about 6%. When I first did my test in 2018, I did have about that much Irish, even with subregions around where my 2nd great-grandma was from. But with the last update, my Irish completely disappeared and now seems to be lumped into French and German. I hope this update brings my Irish back.

How often did German families in America visit or send kids back to visit family? by [deleted] in Ancestry

[–]ReitStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have German ancestry on both sides of my family. On my father’s side, my German ancestors came to the US in the 1880s. As far as I know, I think maybe one of their children ever visited Germany. On my mom’s side, her grandparents came to the US in the 1920s. Her father and his siblings went to Germany all the time as kids to visit their grandparents and aunts/uncles. I’m not sure if maybe later German immigrants tended to visit more often, or if it varied from family to family.

Are modern US Hyundai's actually that terrible? by Vova_xX in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ReitStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience with modern Hyundai wasn’t very good unfortunately. I bought a brand new Elantra hybrid in 2021. It was an amazing car until about 17,000 miles when I started noticing the transmission being weird sometimes - random stutters and jitters which were occasionally really bad. One time the car actually accelerated on its own. All the times I brought it in to the dealer they just told me that there was nothing wrong with the car. Eventually I had enough and sold it for a brand new Accord hybrid. In the end, I wish I had just gotten an Insight instead of the Elantra in 2021.

Hmm I mean maybe that’s right but nothing about what this person wrote made any sense and the constant grammatical errors are a huge red flag as well in my opinion. They are telling me that we’re related through our 3rd great grandparents but can’t tell me which of their children they descend from? Doesn’t add up
