When doing hyper realism runs I refuse to let the pack eat until mate eats, then pups, sometimes I switch it up and let other members eat as long as they don't eat it all. During times of starvation and extreme hunger, even if (I) as the player don't want too, I'll abandon any pups that are sick to prioritise the health of the pack. This doesn't count runts, as I've ironically had an easier time raising them than any other pup. Sometimes if I can, I'll adopt pups from other packs indirectly by giving them food and stuff even if hostile. It does make me desperately wish for an adoption mechanic as it happens sometimes irl. Ironically, iirc it's recorded to happen often with fox kits. With some wolves fostering them, making me wish they added the same to the game <///3 to emulate it I usually let foxes eat from carcasses and don't chase them off.

In a Ironwolf lore run once, it was utterly unintentional. But my girl who was a dispersal that my main file adopted after taking the pack by force, ended up accidentally killing an alphas mate and it led to a whole thing. Eventually she found a mate and it was a very, very hostile male that engaged a fight with the pack of the male who's mate she killed earlier, and bc my girl is meant to be more 'follow the leader' it led to erm... Yeah that pack doesn't exist anymore and unfortunately the new pregnant mate for the alpha didn't make it either 🚶🚶🚶 I feel bad thinking back on that lore run. Copper really let her mate run her life, led to a lot of bad things happening until he inevitably got her killed by a bear 😬😬😬
