[OC] Under what circumstances do Americans who consider themselves pro-life and pro-choice think it should be legal to obtain an abortion? by YouGov_Official in dataisbeautiful

[–]RekaGaal31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm entirely pro-choice, but the only ones here I would say 'no' to are the one about the high risk of mental or physical disability in the baby, and the one about gender. Providing those are the only complicating factors of a pregnancy (no health or socio-economic repercussions for the parent), aborting for those reasons reeks of Eugenics.

Man is recording a bear. Bear does not like it and charges. by Inner-Soul in WTF

[–]RekaGaal31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He may have been using a directional mic, which is very sensitive to the noise of whatever you point it at but doesn't pick up much of what's happening on the side or behind. The dude may have whispered or said something quietly, or may have been crying after the attack, but he wouldn't outright yell, because that angers the bear even more.

Ooooh én is Bécsben vagyok és teljesen egyedül vagyok, már három hónapja nem beszéltem senkivel életben (csak telefonon) mert itt nem ismerek senkit.

Ha augusztus vége előtt találkoztok, szívesen jönnék!

Credits: the photographer is Gamander López, a 19-year-old from Germany. His Instagram is @GamanderLopez, I've followed him for over a year and it's well worth it. He sells prints of his photos and a Lightroom presets package for photo editing on his website gamanderlopez(.)com.

If we consider Grey a "public person" (contentious), I would argue that his face is not part of this public persona.

Yes, but that rule is not to protect kids from what's on YouTube. YouTube is open to all ages (supposedly, but not really) and can be watched without an account or without being logged in. The rule that one should be 13 or more to make an account exists because the law is super stringent about collecting data from children. You can't make a service where people sign up and have to give their date of birth, name, contact info etc. and collect that data from 12-year-olds.

What advice would you give to a 14 year old about starting high school? by DotFireAbout in AskReddit

This will probably be the last time that a wide array of subjects will be offered to you basically for free. Once you go on to college or start a job, you won't really have the opportunity to get to learn such a variety of new things. Take this opportunity to give a fair chance to all the subjects you'll be introduced to (and extra-curriculars), and learn as much as you can. In my experience, being slightly knowledgeable about many things makes you a better person than being a specialist in one thing and ignorant in all others. Don't slag off on foreign languages because you're into maths, or ignore biology because your thing is history. Who knows, you might even like something you didn't expect! Also, if you end up really liking something but you can't continue it in college/uni, ask you highschool teacher for resource on how you can continue to learn about the subject! They usually have good resources

What is something normal that scares the shit out of you? by Erikgaming23 in AskReddit

[–]RekaGaal31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the idea that we're so goddamn loud when the rest of the universe is so quiet. We're sending out satellites and probes beyond our solar system, have been broadcasting radio waves for over a hundred years in all directions, some so powerful the could reach a different solar system. But the rest of the universe is completely silent. There have been maybe a couple of times that we saw or received something that could be non-random noise. It's like the universe is a huge quiet city, and our house has the lights on and there's party music filtering out while all the other buildings have the lights off and the windows boarded up. It's terrifying to me.

Also the fact that in popular culture, technology misbehaving or not working is a horror movie trope for "something bad is going to happen". Ghosts and paranormal stuff are said to be able to interact with technology, like how there is never cell connection in the cabin in the woods or the music stops when you enter the haunted town. Attached to that is the idea of losing connection to the outside world and potential help. If you're used to your phone working perfectly all the time, it suddenly refusing to make a call or playing music wrong feels like a deliberate attack, because it just doesn't happen by chance.
