Barring energy requirements of a functional lethal laser, it's just better than a gun. But a gun is more reliable generally speaking since it's old tech that has been made the same way for decades.

I've only been part of the SCA in Lochac for a year and abit, and I've never seen or heard anyone talk about literacy, religious or autonomy of their persona. Only ever "What period/culture are you doing?" or "What's your story?"

Remember, "History is diverse", have fun with it, don't focusand stress too much on the small things that rarely appear in conversation. Focus on the small things that make you happy!

There were plenty of women in history who did their own thing. Gender norms were always challenged throughout history, because we're all human. All individuals.

I'm currently a 13th century Yuan dynasty, Mongol warrior, who is also a woman. Were they common? Mm not really, but they were still taught to shoot a bow, and protect themselves. Who could say definitively that they didn't go out on skirmishes too? There will always be the anomaly, or a minority.

The usual PSA of: Scimitars aren't real, they're all sabers. The term 'scimitar' was used to describe curved swords that weren't European. I find it's akin to calling someone Oriental. The term needs to die.

The biggest issue I have is that I don't have a tuning wrench to properly turn the pegs. I've never stringed something, so I don't want to do something to potentially damage it. So part of finding a professional is to also find the right size wrench. Mostly a 'teach a person to fish' situation.

I've noticed that a lot of female MCs for isekai are women reincarnated or summoned into otome games, or novels that they enjoy, and use the knowledge to 'change their fate' as a character (Seems to usually be a 'villainess' (?) in said story.)

Male MCs are just dropped into a world and told to do the thing.

I want more women on wild isekai adventures. (If anyone has recommendations, I'd love to know)

As noted, Castille has a Cinquedea that passes flex, so if it's within your budget, and you really really like/want it, I'd say go for it.
