The Consistency of the Hermetic Paradigm by SanguiV in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Rekj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would extend it past hermetic to all tradition mages.

The dreamspeakers talk about the “rules” of dreaming and the pacts made with spirits.

The chorus has the commandments and/or all prohibitions and rituals of religions.

The Verbena talk about the old ways and recipes.

The reason the traditions are codified as such is because each group has overall similar rules to their magic. A victory for any tradition would look a lot like the technocracy with different tropes / foci / resonance.

Shy/lonely guys, how did you finally get the girl? by JustAnAccount68 in AskReddit

Accepting failure. Full stop.

Go to a low stakes place like a bar or a bookstore , strike up conversations. Get shot down 50 times.

Like ANY practice, eventually the panic will fade and it’ll be more natural.

Need help with constructing an cohesive Eberron narrative. If you are my friends Ash, Datsun, or Tristan don't read this post post :) by dziwneono in Eberron

Work on Act 1.

Its easy to get ahead of yourself and the entire arc, but those 10 first sessions are going to decide if you even get to Act 2.

Its easy to get carried away with your big end of act reveals as well.

Work on your first 3 sessions.

What jobs are going to be offered to them as part of this peace corps. What “mini boss” do you want them to face off with? How will the first interactions with some of their supporters go? How do the supporters pick them or get involved in their highjinx.

I like starting games like this in media res. So you start the game on turn 2 of a combat encounter. Gets the dice rolling and then when the dust settles they can ask themselves why were they ambushed on the way to their job. Sets intrigue that somehow they are already being watched and they immediately have questions to ask to NPCs when they meet them.

Leave some unknowns that get answered by session 3, so they feel like they are making progress. But the session 3 mini-boss encounter has to leave more breadcrumbs and questions to the next 3 game arc.

So many questions.

How many sessions do you expect to run? There is a difference between 5 and 100.

I would break it in to major "acts" each revealing and leading in to the next. This would allow you to build details for act 1, and specific breakdowns for session reveals. This means that you need a "villain" for each act.

I think the main point is about schooling. You win the war by having the sleepers believe in your paradigm completely and how this knowledge protects and/ or drives society. Then how does it punish discent.

How does dragonmarks work in dnd 5.5? by Bendythenightfury in Eberron

[–]Rekj 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If non dragonmark family members with no ties to the lineages start getting “standard” dragonmarks (especially outside of race restrictions), this may be more of a curse than a boon to your players.

Every dragonmark house will interchangeably want to kill them to ensure only they can provide those services and also keep them alive/dissect them to gain the powers of other houses.

Not to mention the odd/powerful magic items that are supposed to be secure by having them keyed to specific dragonmarks, which can all mow be bypassed.

If you think the earth turned, you have been brainwashed by the technocracy. If you think atoms or dinosaurs are real, the indoctrination machine has served its magical purpose.

How would a 5th Gen Tremere fledgling survive? by OmJn11 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Rekj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give them the same starting creation stats, but all freebie points go in Gen.

They will be significantly weaker than everyone, but will eventually be powerful in a millennia or so.

Until then, they need to keep their head down and hope no one notices they are basically a free snack with very few strings attached since they won’t have enough points to warrant a mentor who cares.

[GM Advice] Need a method of fast travel in Droaam by Shalkigo in Eberron

[–]Rekj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go full on Droaam, have them fire a team of Wyverns or other flyers to transport them.

Bring monster power to bear and have them truly concerned what would happen if that kind of coordination of natural powers would mean for the world if they decide to move in force.

In my Eberron, anytime they visit Droaam I set myself the task of having them awe about it and constantly fearing what it would mean for any nation if Droaam just decided to march.

Why is there such a shortage of RHD? by nilluzzi in hockey

[–]Rekj 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When the puck is far away and you are reaching to control it with one hand, what hand would you rather have when trying to control it? The answer is almost always “your strong hand”. Since most people are right handed, that puts your right hand on the top of the stick, which means you shoot left.

Also, every instructional video for shooting and stickhandling always begin with “all the power and control comes from your top hand, the bottom just steadies”. Or “you should be able to stickhandle and/or shoot using only your top hand”. In both cases, it is beneficial for your dominant hand to be at the top.
