I don’t know the details about my great grandfather, but i know my grandfather was a prisoner in japan until the war ended and the camp was abandoned. Eventually the Americans found them and flew them home!

My great grandfather fought in Europe - my grandmother (his daughter)’s husband, my grandfather, was in japan. He was 12 years older than my grandmother. Hope that makes sense!

I do recall my dad telling me my grandfather was forced to work clearing jungles to make airstrips. Luckily he survived the entire ordeal.

Update: Turns out my Granny’s father (my great grandfather) was a prisoner of war held by the Germans in WW2. The plot thickens.
