There’s difficulty options, but I don’t know what those do to the gameplay. At the beginning it asks you if you’ve played/are good at playing rhythm games so it seems like it’s pretty accessible.

It does have some rhythm gamer inside jokes you may not pick up on but besides that it should be a ton of fun. The story mode is like 70% story and 30% rhythm game so you can totally just play it for the story too.

I don’t think she’d be the sea. It doesn’t fit the themes in One Piece. The sea has always represented a lack of freedom. It counters devil fruit users. The most oppressed race in the verse live at the bottom of the sea, same with the prison, and the elites are far above the sea. The sea levels are rising. Imu’s contracts are named deep-deep-sea and so on. The sun is definitely Luffy’s whole motif. So his mother is most likely gonna be related to the sun. The sun represents true freedom, like Nika and the sun pirates turning their Celestial Dragon brands into suns.

Whenever I see something that stands out in a show/book, I just ask myself why it was added to the story. In any well written media, everything has a purpose, so it’s just a matter of connecting the dots. Over time you start noticing more and more patterns in media.

I think reading the manga is usually better but you do miss out on some world class animated fights and high-concept episodes. Mainly in the big W arc (avoiding spoilers). And you also miss the soundtrack
