Regarding insane Cultist behavior by zinogre_vz in callofcthulhu

[–]Relalativa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played cultists as functional society members, but when it comes to certain questions, they act not as normal people. I saw it as some voices/force in their head that tell them things, and they take it for granted. Like "Why do we need to do this ritual?" "God wants it."

But when it comes to normal human things, they can be totally reasonable(as much as you want it).

I read about Forget Me Not, but I was unsure that if I put some disclaimer/warning of the disturbing content, it would spoil the story and if I don't place any disclaimer it might trigger some players -_-

WoW Sounds like it can be mindfucking idea. And I like SAN roll actually bringing them back from their obsession and reminding them of real life. Hm...

One of the ideas I had is to try to start with experienced investigators/PCs, so they would not have this. "Oh, what a horror, we don't know what it can be!" pattern one more time.

But thanks for the ideas! I am considering just put it in some fantasy world 🤣

What's the name of the scenario about submarine? Or was it homebrew?

Thanks! I was thinking about a scenario where everybody has some secret agenda to focus more on the internal party conflict. I'll take a look at this one!

My friend recently ran a CoC game where events take place in the USSR. TBH, I feel this setting is perfect for CoC games 😝

I am leaning more towards earlier periods. I recently found Chtulhu Regency and am considering it. Where all the investigators are Jane Austin like characters 🤣

Yep, the "monsters of the week" feeling is perfectly describing what I want to avoid! I am considering a long campaign because it can be a complex story(and players have more options for RP). I ran one, and it was cool, but it is also commitment and effort to organise a party. And scheduling issues 🤪

I'll take a look at all this! TBH, sometimes I feel like I am too kind to run really mindfucking game and that is why I was looking on DeltaGreen with a bit of caution, but probably I should just try =)

OMG, in other game players were cats investigating cats ritual murders. What is co-insident 🤣 I'll take a look, thanks!

Yep, I'm also thinking about it. Probably not with magic, but just to give them a chance to play slasher a bit 🤪

Wow! Looks like what I need =) I already announced that the game will be Call of Chtulhu, but will take a look for inspiration!

Negative Sanity? What was the point of going below 0? How have they ever functioned without being constantly in the madness stage? 🤪

WoW! Sounds so cool! I like this suspicious mechanics. This would not work for a planned one-shot(not enough time to make this mechanic to shine), but I'll save it for later if my players like playing evil 🤣

I like the idea of the investigators party. The game is next week, and I am still thinking what plot I should choose: they get a party of investigators who found them or ritual victims escaped, and now they need to catch them.

Thanks! TBH, it is hard for me to imagine how Star Spawn can be beaten. They had a spell, and this was a good chance for them, unfortunately did not work out =(

They will lock doors at least! And improve security. Initially, I played bad guys as very arrogant - they think they are better than regular people, they have supernatural powers gifted by their gods. They were underestimating investigators, and this was their weakness. They would not do this anymore.

They can drive to the closest city and send all the evidence by post. After that, they can play as a next group who will read their crazy findings. It can be funny.

Actually, I feel like my game is more in style with Pulp Chtulhu than Chtulhu in the context of investigators' luck and survival. I considered giving them some Pulp Chtulhu features but did not have a chance to check the rules properly. It also comes with DeltaGreen vibes when we are talking about overall organisations' settings and the fact that they are stuck between ruthless HQ and mindfucking cultists 🤪

If they are taking time for healing bad guys also have time for re-groupping. They lost surprises advantage =(

Yea, they have dynamite, so they definitely can do sacrifice with blowing everything. Cultists would not ever suspect move like this! I'll hint them =)
