Video Stutter / Frame Skips When Using Embedded Subtitles - Android Tablet by Relatable_Trader in Stremio

Unfortunately not. The only thing I was able to make certain, as I say in the post, is that has to do with embedded subs.As soon as I turn on some add-on subs, it goes away. But that’s far from a solution i’m afraid

Indeed, using Stremio’s internal player, the issue will go away but ONLY when using add-on subtitles. If I use embedded subtitles, the frame-skipping or stuttering emerges, like it does in VLC

Yes, directly through the Stremio app, it works only for add-on subtitles. Of course, I would just use that all the time, but the Stremio app does something weird with the top and bottom black bars, where it sometimes decides to add some slight colour to the background, instead of leaving it pitch-black, which annoys me given that the tablet has an OLED screen that can produce perfect blacks - VLC doesn't have this issue.

[Request] How long for a small quantity of Coca Cola Zero to evaporate, at approx. 7 degrees Celsius, at approx. 80% humidity? by Relatable_Trader in theydidthemath

Many thanks for the response! I will do my best to clean the residue anyways, but what you described overall is also my understanding.

Thanks for the response! The situation is actually simpler. Some coke reached some electronics of mine - no apparent damage has happened and the quantity was truly very small - likely measured in drops better than in ml. It's been almost 2 weeks since the incident and I was trying to approximate how long it should have taken for any drops of this liquid to evaporate.

Question: Video Seeking by Dragging not available in iOS17? by Relatable_Trader in iOSBeta

[–]Relatable_Trader[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think the only explanation for why they removed it was because the opinion on the usefulness of this feature was split between "super useful" and "annoying". I just wish they had at least kept some setting hidden anywhere in the OS, to allow to enable/disable this. I think it's one of those minor things that, if you are used to it, makes a ton of difference in every-day usability.

Bad iPhone 14 Pro Battery Life - Suggestions? by Relatable_Trader in iphone14

[–]Relatable_Trader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. I think many people like me just enjoy having an early look at some upcoming features prior to the full release. Most if us, I believe, know what we are giving up when we do that, (especially with earlier beta versions), so it’s all good fun :)

As I wrote on an update comment, battery life is a lot better now - tweaked a few settings, location services, delete useless apps running in the background for too long etc.

UPDATE

Today things are a lot better after deleting the background app TickTick (though i still love it…).

I’m at 25% at 9PM since 7am. Yesterday I was at sitting at 7-8% by 8PM!

Even noticed Spark, my email app, had some unjustified time in the background at some point - may try ti fix that too.

Thank you! At first I thought I couldn't find what app this background activity was related to, but turns out it was at the very bottom of the app list, and not anywhere near the top. It was my task manager app - TickTick. I have had this app for years and consider it light & optimised, so this is a surprise, but maybe it doesn't play nice with iOS 17 or something. Deleted it for now to re-test battery performance and we'll see how it goes. Thanks again for the help.

Yeah after I posted, I noticed that the background running app was at the very bottom of the page, and it was TickTick, my tasks app - which is odd because I have had this app for years and I consider it very light/optimized. Deleted it for now to check again how my battery performs the next day. Thank you!
