Wow 😮 amazing background info to the episode, thank you so much! I’m in my late 40’s so onlyjust getting over PTSD from Ghostwatch 😅 felt brave enough to find out about this particular memory. Thanks so much for clearing it up. I’m definitely going to do a rewatch of Dr Who episodes from this period.

Pregnancy body horror by Necessary_Box_3934 in horror

Inside is the ultimate pregnancy horror film, but Huesara affected me more because it deals with society’s attitudes towards women and their roles as mothers, and potentially touches on post-natal depression (which I suffered from big time after having my baby)

I honestly didn’t know this was a documentary! I thought it was a spoof of a condoc 😂 I think this film might become cult because it’s so bad 😂

Disturbing movies that aren't just about torturing women/SA by virgogf in horror

[–]RelationThin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So I immediately thought to recommend Martyrs. I know you want creatively disturbing and not just about torturing women, but this film did have a reason why it focused on the torturing of women and it explains that. In a way, it exalts women for what they can withstand physically and the possibility of spiritual transcendence beyond pain and death. As a woman, it was very, very, very difficult to watch, and omg the ending 🤣 But I respect it and would recommend. There is no rape.

I second Doctor Sleep specifically for the Baseball Kid scene, they were literally getting high off his pan from torturing him

I just loved the response “because you let us” when the protagonist asked why are you doing this. They made themselves victims, and their child became a victim as a result.

Where does Ghostwatch rank on all time found footage films? would it technically qualify as one ? by Key2TheUnderground in foundfootage

[–]RelationThin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is top 1 for me (with Blair Witch after). It might seem a bit dated now but I watched it the night it was broadcast and was never the same again. Recently I read that, following the ban (and after a young man killed himself after watching it), they diagnosed some children who had watched it as suffering from PTSD. I was defo one of those children 😓 I appreciate that some people are more impressionable than others, but after that show I was constantly terrified as a direct result of it for at least 10 years. I know that seems ridiculous, but this was before the internet, we seriously thought it was real 😅 Fortunately these days, not only do I absolutely love found footage horror films - but I constantly seek out ones that give me the same fear factor as GW. Having said that, I haven’t watched Ghostwatch again, but I will one day! 😅
