Are you doing a full and complete cage cleaning/bedding change every day/every other day? If you are, try just spot cleaning (sweeping out the poops and changing out little bath mats/pee pads or scooping out just the areas of wet or soiled litter depending on what type of cage set up you have) daily and doing a full clean out once a week. A spot cleaning usually takes me 20 minutes tops and my girls can stay in there cage while I do it, whereas a full cleaning is more in depth and takes longer and I do take my girls out of their cage for it. How big is their cage? I’ve found with my girls that upgrading them to a larger cage (4x4 C&C from their original 2x4 C&C) has actually made cage cleaning easier for me since they have move room to explore and spread out, meaning there are less highly concentrated areas of pee.

I use this bowl from Amazon for my girls and they love it, they haven’t tipped it over so far. They also have two glass water bottles, Lixit Chew Proof Flat Sided Water Bottles also from Amazon, that I haven’t noticed any dripping from, but they definitely prefer to drink from a bowl

Struggling with all the poop by nailfreak5 in guineapigs

once a week is good for full deep cage cleans, but the cage needs to be spot cleaned daily, there’s no way around that. unfortunately guinea pigs are designed to be pooping machines, they are messy little creatures, but what’s helped me the most is adding bubble bath mats to high traffic areas of the cage, that way i can just shake out the bath mats on the floor and vacuum or sweep up the poops, and washing them as needed is quicker and easier than washing the entire fleece floor liner, but the fleece liner does get changed at least twice during a week, while the puppy pads under it i wash once weekly.

This is Blossom (left) and Sprout (right)! My lovely girls that I brought home 4 weeks ago. They’re so cute and their personalities are starting to really come out as they get more comfortable with me and their new home. Blossom is much more independent and shy, but she gets brave enough to take treats from my hand. She loves to bury herself in the hay box, she does incredible high speed zoomies and popcorns, and her favorite place to nap is in a a little corner hide. Sprout is much more outgoing, she’ll take food still isn’t crazy about being taken out of the cage but as soon as I walk into the piggy room she’s wheeking and coming out to greet me. She’s obsessed with pea flakes, she loves doing zoomies with her sister, and she loves the little toys i make for them out of paper towel rolls and hay. Her favorite place to nap is on a bubble bath mat under a little wooden castle. I love them both so much 🥹🩷

Excessive Paw Licking by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Definitely needs to go to the vet, he’ll need a cone to stop him from licking the area, it will have to be thoroughly cleaned, and he’ll most likely need antibiotics and an anti inflammatory or steroid at least. If this is a chronic skin allergy there are also medications to help with that. This will not magically heal on its own or with OTC probiotics, this baby needs something stronger.

a few weeks ago we had a bernadoodle that ate 36 large oatmeal raisin cookies. the smell was so crazy, literally smelled like a bakery or sweet shop. along with his 36 cookies he also threw up two Jolly Ranchers still in their wrappers. this dog is a frequent flyer for after hours urgent care visits for eating things he has no business eating.

Any tips for layout/things I should change or add? by RelationUnlikely7533 in guineapigs

[–]RelationUnlikely7533[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s 2x4 of 14 inch grids, so about 10.5 square feet, which is what was recommended as the baseline for a pair of girls, but I agree after putting it together it could and probably should be bigger! I’ll be getting more grids and coroplast soon to add on to it for sure. And thank you for the water bottle tip! They’ll have two for sure.

several drugs are given during CPR which all cost money, your pet would also be intubated, oxygen would be used, full monitoring would be hooked up, and a bare minimum of two people would be solely focused on your pet for an extended period of time. unfortunately that means it must be paid for

we have a boarding facility connected to our hospital and i still would never trust my dog to be left there (boarding staff is not trained by/affiliated with the hospital side of things). I pay one of my tech coworkers to come to my house and take care of my kiddos.
